History

Maria Hill was present on Prison 42 before it exploded, she informed Iron Man that Black Panther had initiated the self destruct on the orders of Captain America. Unbeknownst to anyone, the self destruct had actually been initiated by Veranke. Hill presumably died in the ensuing explosion.
