Marie was the mother of Edmond Winshed, who died at 17 during training on the school athletics track. During Edmond's funeral she too was accused by Alice Rimes together with the rest of her family for having always mistreated him. When Alice read Edmond's diary the next day with the intention of publishing it in the yearbook, it turned out that Marie, as her grandmother had told Edmond, had wanted a girl and not a boy. Wanting to eliminate the evidence, Marie and the rest of Edmond's family captured Alice and attempted to force her to give them the combination to the safe where she had locked her diary. All this plethora of emotions caused the Man-Thing to intervene and head towards the school gym where they kept Alice stuck and while he was dealing with the real culprits he got rid of Marie by violently pushing her aside, like the insidious exhortations to push aside since Edmond was little, when she had downplayed the fact that Edmond continued to gain weight.[1]
