Prior to writing full-time, Marjorie Liu was an attorney. Liu is an award-winning, best-selling writer of comics, romance, and urban fantasy novels, and teaches comic book writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her original Image comic series Monstress won multiple Hugo Awards, British Fantasy Awards, the Harvey Award, and five Eisner Awards. She was the first woman and woman of color to win an Eisner for Best Writer. Additionally, she was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for her work on Astonishing X-Men. Her work for Marvel includes Black Widow (Vol. 4) #1, X-23 (Vol. 3), Dark Wolverine, and Astonishing X-Men.
