Synopsis for "Balk"
Mark, Mal, and Treetop were practicing shooting on a stolen television at Dave's Shooting Gallery. Then, Mark expressed his refusal to bring a gun to his son Scott's upcoming baseball game. After a man brought in a stolen boombox to be used as target practice, its angry owner entered the building and threatened Dave, but was beaten up by Mark. Scott's stepfather Gordon was having lunch with his client Henri Graymalkin and expressed resentment over "living in Mark's shadow".
On Sunday, Mark was contemplating bringing a gun to Scott's game at Cunningham Park in Queens. Mark visited Scott's game and was spotted by Gordon and his son's mother Joan. Scott claimed that the coach refused to let him play, so Mark confronted the coach and convinced him to change his mind before sitting next to Gordon and Joan. Later, Scott called Mark and introduced his teammates to him. Inside of a restroom, he encountered a gunman, who he trapped inside before taking away his gun. While watching his son pitch, another man held a gun at Mark before being spotted and exposed by Scott, then stabbed. Then, a third gunman held a gun to Scott's head, but was shot in the had by Mark. An angry Joan lashed out at Mark, who was defended by Scott and thanked by the coach.
Later, Henri, who had learned of the baseball game, was informed that his agents had failed to kill Mark. At his private gym, Mark exercised while feeling angry about endangering Scott. That night, in bed, Joan told Gordon that she felt nothing about Mark.
