History
Martin Knowles was a brilliant scientist and inventor who invented pills that could induce suspended animation on an individual who would then wake up a thousand years in the future. Arrogating to himself the thought that he had reached the pinnacle of knowledge, he thought that by waking up 1,000 years in the future he could help that population with his intellectual abilities. After hiding the pills in a medicine cabinet, now tired, he decided to take a sleeping pill to conciliate his sleep, but caught up in exhaustion he thought he had ingested the pills of suspended animation instead. Waking up 1,000 years in the future, however, he did not find himself among a society that needed his help but rather, it was he who was considered a retard and was about to be interned along with those people whom the people of the future did not consider up to standard. Fortunately, he had not taken the pills of suspended animation, and what he had experienced was only a dream, which, however, convinced him to give up his intentions to manimulate the future and thus he threw away his discovery.[1]
