Synopsis
The Guardians of the Galaxy capture Altru, but Star-Lord is distracted by thoughts of Christmas and almost lets Altru escape. The other Guardians try and fail to help Quill get over his nostalgia for the holiday. They turn Altru and the item he stole over to Neeza to collect the bounty on his head. The miserly Kallusian appears to offer them anything they want from his vault as a reward, only to double-cross them and demand the Guardians give him everything they own. They escape from the vault, and fly away from Neeza's castle for Altru's home village. There, they meet Altru's wife and children, and witness the impoverished state Neeza's greed has left them in. They promise Altru's wife that they will free Altru, and give Neeza's riches back to the people. Later, the Guardians break into Neeza's castle. Star-Lord, Rocket and Groot pretend to be evil spirits, and demand Neeza give them the key to his vault. They drop the act when Neeza retaliates with a spirit blaster. Quill finds the key in his sock drawer after Groot knocks Neeza out. Quill and Gamora free Altru and Neeza's other prisoners while Rocket, Groot, and Drax collect the treasure in the vault. Rocket flies back to the village in Neeza's hovercraft with Altru and the treasure while the rest of the Guardians distract Neeza's robot soldiers. Neeza sends a message to the hovercraft, warning them that if they don't return the treasure he will detonate an antimatter generator he planted on it. Star-Lord jumps onto the hovercraft when he notices something wrong. Rocket dislodges the antimatter generator, and the hovercraft arrives in the village safely. While the Guardians give the treasure back to the villagers, Neeza's pet brings the antimatter generator back to his master. The generator detonates, trapping Neeza in an antimatter vortex. Altru's family thanks the Guardians for reuniting them with him, and Star-Lord realizes he's given someone the perfect Christmas.
