The Guardians of the Galaxy steal a weapon known as the Tactigon from the bounty hunter Wraith's abandoned lair. After they fight their way through the lair's automated defenses, the Guardians discover Wraith rigged the Tactigon to self-destruct if anyone but him used it. If it explodes, the incredible energy the weapon contains could destroy half the galaxy. To stop the explosion, Star-Lord wants to put the Tactigon in a temporal stasis field inside a Nova Corps vault; however, Quill is banned from setting foot on Xandar during the Feast of the Three Grinning Moons due to a prank he pulled years before that destroyed Xandar's fourth moon to be named "Prankster King." The Nova Corps believe the Guardians are making up what they say about the Tactigon and attempt to shoot down the Milano before it can land. Rocket tricks the Nova Corps into arresting them instead so they can take the Tactigon from them and place it in a temporal stasis field themselves, but Corpsman Dey, still believing Star-Lord is playing a prank, has the Guardians sent back into orbit with the Tactigon. The Guardians hijack the Nova Corps transport ship and head back down to the planet. While Quill distracts the Nova Corps with his pranks, the rest of the Guardians try to sneak into a vault to get rid of the Tactigon. The Guardians accidentally trigger a jailbreak, and Wraith is one of the prisoners who escapes from the Nova Corps' prison. Wraith fight the Guardians to get back the Tactigon and the rest of the weapons they stole from his lair. Star-Lord, meanwhile, has convinced Corpsman Dey that the Tactigon is real, and fight their way through other escaped prisoners to regroup with the rest of the Guardians. Quill (not thinking) freezes Wraith with his element gun before he can help them stop the Tactigon from self-destructing. The Tactigon doesn't explode when the countdown runs out, but instead releases a cloud of stinky gas that covers the entire planet. A hologram of Yondu appears from the Tactigon, explaining that he placed the "ultimate stink-i-fier" in Wraith's hideout to become the new Prankster King.

  • Although this episode aired near the end of the series' second season, it is actually in the middle of the season by production number, between "Rock Your Baby" and "Symbiote War, Part 1." This is why the ongoing storyline involving Adam Warlock is suddenly dropped for this episode despite the previous episode ending on a cliffhanger.

  • The scene of the Guardians lined-up in Nova Corps custody is a direct reference to a scene from the film Guardians of the Galaxy.
