Synopsis for "Elements of Terror (Part IX of XII) - Breaking Faith"
Casagata. Marea's den is attacked by the military forces sent by Selbert, with Dixon piloting a plane. Ditillio is blindfolded, but releases himself. A missile hits the Man-Thing and he explodes. Zahner and Marea escape, the later holding Man-Thing's head like a relic. She wants to "surrender to the Master" and kisses Zahner as a sacrifice; but Ditillio finds them, eager for answers, and threatens to take the Man-Thing's prized head to Washington as a proof. Marea is angered at the sacrilege, but Zahner convinces her to ally with Ditillio, because the government has clearly betrayed her. Ditillio agrees to publish their story, which would end Chaate's career and maybe more. Zahner and Marea confess: The White House has been working, knowingly, with drug smugglers, Satanist cults (Marea's), mercenary assassins (Zahner's), and grey-market arm dealers, while performing unauthorized experiments on human subjects in FSSI, under the coordination of Choate and Selbert. The three of them walk one mile to a motel to inform officially.
In the FSSI, McDonald confirms that Railsback's mind has not been affected: Railsback retains his memory and judgement, so he remembers he wants to kill McDonald.
In Washington, Choate insists in managing a mission personally, one related to the serum. Selbert tries to convince him not to, as every step Choate makes is being monitored; but Choate is convinced his career is over and would never be an officer again, so he'd rather leave with a blast so history remembers him that way. He goes to California, where McDonald gives Choate the six doses to take to Costa Dinora. They have to wait for Dixon to arrive with his plane; McDonald suggests using Choate's jet, but Choate cannot afford "company markings" that connect that mission with his confession in the Capitol, especially in case the plane is fell. Choate also wants one more doses, and to see Railsback.
