Looking to make the Character templates a little easier for the new reader. Basically, keeping all of the same details, but instead introducing a new paragraph at the start like other wikis. Namely one that reads like, "Origin in one or two sentences, relation to the MU, current state or whereabouts as last known." Sleeper 08:03, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

I think I see where you are going with this... It could definitely work, the only concern I have is that maintaining an accurate "Current Status / Last Known Whereabouts" is very hard to do...
It was actually included in my first draft of the template, but I decided against it last minute.
Can you show us an example of what you are proposing? (here)

Combine 'former' and 'other aliases'?

Copycat has suggested we combine 'former aliases' and 'other current aliases' into one 'known aliases'. I can only assume this suggestion implies that if an alias is not used any longer, we could just say (former) or something similar, where applicable.

I am all for keeping our templates as tight and compact as possible. Data should be filling the page, not formatting...

What does everyone else think about this idea?

I for one have never liked the aliases section and would like them to be combined.

Exclude from the Character Template ?

Hey Guys!

I also think we should exclude this lines from the template: because I think the template is easier to use without them. When create a new page or edit a stub I'm used to pressing Ctrl-A and copying everything from the character template page. After I paste it in the destination page I always have to deleted this unwanted lines. :-(

Second nominees are '''Place of death:''' '''REMOVE THIS LINE IF STILL ACTIVE'''
'''Final appearance:''' '''REMOVE THIS LINE IF STILL ACTIVE'''
because they apply to a very small group of characters and because Marvel has a way of bringing a lot of characters back from the dead more often then I can remember.

Hope you feel the same way.

PS: Jamie thanks for taking into account my suggestion.

I agree, and think that the Template lines are unneeded. I also agree with the place of death and final appearance. All this can be in the history if needed and then if the character is brought back you can just continue on with the history...We have also been talking about this in the forum section and I would like to hear input on this here and/or in the forum.
