Synopsis for "Book IX: Look to the Skies...!"
In this ninth issue of Marvel Saga, the following events are recounted:
- The recruitment of Angel into the X-Men.
- The first appearance and origin of the Vulture, Spider-Man's first encounter with the foe, and Peter Parker getting a job as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle.
- The origins of the Blue Area of the Moon and the birth of the Kree/Skrull conflict.
- The Fantastic Four's first trip to the Moon, subsequent battle against the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes, and their first encounter with the Watcher.
- The origin of the Watchers.
- The Fantastic Four's battle with a Puppet Master-manipulated Sub-Mariner.
- Thor's first encounter with the Radioactive Man
- Spider-Man's first encounter with the Tinkerer, and "aliens" who turned out to be really actors, one of whom was Quinten Beck, who would eventually become Spider-Man's long-time for Mysterio.
- Henry Pym's first meeting with Janet van Dyne, and her transformation into Ant Man's sidekick the Wasp during their battle with Kosmos, a creature responsible for the death of Janet's father.
- The Fantastic Four's first encounter with the Mad Thinker.
- The birth of Dr. Octopus, and his first battle with Spider-Man, which led to Spidey's first defeat.
Notes
- This issue features a supplement feature on the inside cover called "Continuity Corner". In this issue it glosses over where various Thor, Human Torch, Iron Man, and Ant Man stories from issues of Journey into Mystery, Tales to Astonish, Strange Tales and Tales of Suspense fit into continuity.
