Synopsis for "Let the Silence Shatter!"
Searching for a way to restore her beloved Black Bolt's voice, the Wizard offers his technology to Medusa in return for her returning to her criminal ways in the Frightful Four. Medusa reluctantly agrees, and helps them steal a rare sample of Quadranium 99. However she later rebels when she finds out the Wizard has no intention of helping Black Bolt. She seals the rest of the Frightful Four in their space capsule headed into outer space. Medusa appears to fall to her doom, but is caught in mid-air by Black Bolt who had been monitoring Medusa's activities. The Quadranium 99 is also lost to space, though Medusa takes solace in the fact that at least the Wizard will be unable to use it for evil.

Synopsis for "The Siege of Camelot!"
With a peasant's holiday being celebrated, King Arthur and his knights leave Castle Camelot in order to celebrate with his subjects, leaving Mordred in charge of the kingdom in his absence. Watching the King and his men leaving the castle is the Black Knight who vows to protect the kingdom from Mordred's secret ambitions of ruling England.
As soon as Arthur is gone, Mordred and his wife Morgan le Fay begin plotting their conquest of Camelot immediately, sending one of their loyal minions out to inform Sir Robert de Quincy of the Normans to attack the castle so that he can lead the palace guard, hoping that with Sir Robert's help he will conquer and jointly rule England until such a time that he can eliminate Du Quincy. When the Normans finally attack, Mordred leads them into battle. Seeing this is Sir Percy who knows that the King would never allow a counter attack in his absence and so he changes into the Black Knight to interfere with Mordred's plans.
With the forces of Camelot failing, the Black Knight arrives and turns the tide, ruining Mordred's attempts to "surrender" to the Normans. As the Normans fall back, Mordred orders the knights to return to the castle. While nobody is looking, Mordred strikes a blow to the Black Knight's head leaving him falling into the castle moat. Telling the others that the Black Knight has fallen, he orders the drawbridge raised. However the Black Knight has survived the blow and rises to the surface and sees men loyal to Mordred searching for him to finish the job. Using a reed as a make-shift snorkel, the Black Knight hides underwater from their search.
Sneaking into the castle as King Arthur is returning back, the Black Knight spots Mordred raising the rear portcullis to let the Normans in and joins King Arthur and his knights in battling the enemy invaders, easily defeating them. In the aftermath of the battle, the Black Knight departs to change back into his alter-ego. Sir Percy then listens as King Arthur commends Mordred for helping fight back the invasion, unable to reveal Mordred's duplicity due to a lack of evidence to prove his claims.

Synopsis for "The Dawn of the Sub-Mariner"
When Namor the Sub-Mariner was a young boy, he was sent out by his mother to play with his step-brother Byrrah, but she warns him to be careful of American ships. Namor meets with his step-brother and some other children and they decide to play Atlanteans versus Americans. Proud of his half-American heritage, the Sub-Mariner wants to play the role of an American, but Byrrah and the other boys force him to play the role of an Atlantean in their game.
Swimming to the surface of the Antarctic, the trio of boys construct a boat out of ice and begin playing. Namor dives down in the water and is struck by "bombs" made out of ice by Byrrah and his friend. Thinking them cheats, the Sub-Mariner swims up and capsizes their boat. However as Byrrah and the others splash into the water, the ice shifts sealing the crack and trapping Namor on the surface. Knowing his people can only live on the surface without water for a short period of time, Namor begins to panic and begins searching for another break in the ice so that he can return to his people without suffocating.
He finds none and after stealing a fish from a penguin to eat, the tired Sub-Mariner decides to sleep among a group of seals. While back down below the surface, Byrrah's guilt over what happened to Namor prompts him to go and tell Fen what happened. Fearing her son had suffocated, Fen and some Atlantean warriors drill through the ice to reach the surface. There they find Namor alive and well sleeping among the seals and make a startling discovery: Namor is able to breath on the surface indefinitely.

Synopsis for "Origin of the Black Marvel"
A group of criminals storm the local power station and knock out the crew on site. Then they quickly destroy the generators, cutting power to the entire city. This is all part of a grander scheme, however before the crooks can pull their main job, they are attacked by the newest costumed hero: The Black Marvel. After beating the crooks into submission, the Black Marvel learns that they are going to be attack the local armory.
As the hero rushes of, he thinks back to the circumstances that led to him becoming the costumed hero that he is: Some time ago the Black Feet Indian Tribe were waiting for the ultimate passage of their medicine chief. His demands that his successor pass a series of tests that would prove him the pride of the Black Feet. This contest was left in the hands of Running Elk. None of the natives were able to pass the tests. Some days later young Dan Lyons came to the camp to pay respect to the passing chief due to the fact that he saved his father years ago. Hearing of the contest to find a successor, Dan would would accept the challenges and pass them all. He would then be given a costumed and christened the Black Marvel and told to fight against crime and injustice.
With his recollection over, the Black Marvel arrives at the scene of the armory and stops the crooks from robbing it. During the fight one of the crooks is fatally shot and tells the Black Marvel that this was all a plot to organize all the local mobs into one organization. With the rest of the crooks captured, the electricity is restored and the Black Marvel has the first notch for his bow.

Synopsis for "Captain America Turns Traitor"
A Communist agent named Oranoff meets with Dr. Standish one of his spies and shows him footage of Captain America and Bucky ruining one of their most recent operations and charges Standish with the task of dealing with the hero. Standish informs his superior that he has a plan to deal with Captain America and Oranoff leaves to return to his submarine which is hidden off the coast of Alaska.
The next day Dr. Standish calls a press conference and tells them that he intends to start a seminar about the dangers of communism and has asked for the world's heroes to meet him to participate in a lecture at Oaklake. The call is sent out, and soon the Human Torch, Sub-Mariner and Captain America answer it. In a meeting, Standish tells them that the lecture only requires one speaker and asks Captain America to stay while the others can be called back at a later date.
When Cap agrees, Standish takes him and Bucky on a tour of Oaklake's facilities including a lab. Interested in the fluoroscope, Captain America asks for a demonstration and Standish does so by standing behind it. While Cap and Bucky are distracted, Standish then prepares a syringe with a special formula to make Captain America embrace communism and injects Captain America. It seemingly works and Cap suddenly turns mean and cold toward Bucky.
Bucky is also shocked when Captain America suddenly begins talking of communism in a positive light, but decides to keep quiet to see what is going on. At the lecture, Captain America tells those gathered that they have nothing to fear from communism as it is a better way of life. Convinced that Captain America is completely under his power, Standish asks the hero to accompany him back to Russia to continue his work there.
The take a plane to Alaska and when they are over an American base, Captain America is ordered to jump out and destroy it. When Bucky tries to stop his partner, the young boy is pushed aside. Landing on the ground, Captain America fights through the soldiers and then sabotages the dynamo on the base causing a massive explosion. Having survived the blast, Captain America rushes to the shore to meet with Standish and Bucky. They are taken to Oranoff's submarine where they are going to be transported to Russia. However, Captain America reveals that he has been faking his condition the whole time and he and Bucky attack and then jump off the sub, which flees the scene.
Swimming to shore, Captain America reveals to Bucky that because of the Super-Soldier Serum in his body, the drug that Standish injected into him had no effect. With explanations out of the way, Cap suggests they go back and report to the government what happened.
- In Story II (Black Knight) Modred is married to Morgan Le Fey. In the modern Marvel Universe Morgan is Mordred's aunt.
- The Black Knight story is the 'only' one that does not feature the Ebony Blade. The Black Knight is presented his Black Blade by Merlin in Story III of Black Knight #1.
