Synopsis for "Sub-Mariner Joins the Evil Mutants!"
X-Men #6
Magneto finds Namor's underwater kingdom, but he decides not to approach the Sub-Mariner following an outburst that he witnesses. Instead, Magneto approaches one of the other Atlanteans and makes a deal. In exchange for delivering a message from him, Magneto claims that the Atlantean can become the new ruler of Atlantis, if the Sub-Mariner joins the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Back at the mansion, Professor Xavier informs his students that Magneto is attempting to recruit Namor and that he knows where Magneto's new base is located. The X-Men board a ship and head out to stop Magneto. Namor is persuaded into meeting with Magneto on his secret island. He is quickly impressed by how the island is run using Magneto's powers in conjunction with a giant magnet at the center of the island.
The X-Men arrive, and a battle begins amongst the two groups. Magneto destroys the X-Men's ship, but they use an ice-craft to make it to shore. Cyclops realizes that the giant magnet powers everything, so he tries to destroy it, but Quicksilver attacks before he can do anything.
The X-Men subdue Quicksilver, which causes the Scarlet Witch to fear for her brother's safety. Magneto becomes angered with the Scarlet Witch and yells at her. At this point, both Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch question Magneto's actions but they continue to follow him. Xavier mentions this may be because they are being controlled subconsciously.
The Sub-Mariner realizes what type of man he has allied himself with, so he turns against Magneto and destroys the magnet's controls. The X-Men break into the lab, so Magneto, Toad and Mastermind run away. The Scarlet Witch demands that Quicksilver be returned to her, but the X-Men do not comply. A short battle breaks out and is stopped by Professor Xavier when he brings Quicksilver, under his mental control, to the Scarlet Witch.
Namor decides that he has had enough of fighting for the day, so he starts to head back to his kingdom when he is attacked by Magneto and his giant magnet. The Sub-Mariner overcomes the beating he is taking and destroys the magnet. The X-Men watch as the Sub-Mariner withdraws back to his kingdom, then observe Magneto and the rest of the Brotherhood retreat in their own jet plane.Appearing in "The Incredible Hulk!"

Synopsis for "The Incredible Hulk!"
Tales to Astonish #60
At the military rocket base, General Ross is complaining to his daughter Betty about Banner's tardiness and that the new robot (which is supposed to study nuclear explosions at close proximity) he just built is likely a dud. Banner shortly arrives, nobody knowing that there is a spy in their midst. General Ross scolds Banner for being late to work on the robot, and Betty asks Bruce to confide in her the reasons he is so frequently absent (a request he denies). Banner works on the robot again, but his thoughts soon return to the Hulk and the nature of his transformations. He works through the day, until General Ross tells him that he must have the robot ready for testing the next day.
Working through the night to finish the robot, Banner discovers someone fleeing the outside hall. Getting too excited over the events, Banner transforms into the Hulk. The Hulk, not caring about the possible spy or Banner's invention, leaves the base to plan his next attack against humanity.
At dawn, the spy knocks out the robot's intended pilot and climbs into the device and walks it out to the testing range. The robot withstands a nuclear attack, and attacks from tank artillery. Suddenly, the spy has the robot destroy the tank, much to everybody's shock. The Hulk, witnessing this display recognizes the robot as Banner's creation and wants to destroy it.
The spy battles the Hulk as an ultimate test of the robot's indestructibility. During the battle, the robot withstands the Hulk's attack, and gains the upper hand when the Hulk gets excited enough to cause his transformation back into Bruce Banner. The spy easily knocks out the weakening Hulk and flees the scene.
Investigating the scene, some soldiers find Banner and bring him to General Ross for questioning. Ross refuses to believe that there was a spy. He suspects that Banner piloted the robot and hid it somewhere, until a soldier reports that the robot was spotted moving through the desert. He orders his troops to pursue it, and when Bruce offers to build an even stronger robot to combat the original, Ross declines, because he suspects that Banner is somehow involved with the spy. The story ends with Betty trying to console Bruce, and Bruce's thoughts considering the menace that the Hulk poses to them all.Appearing in "The Mystery of the Man with the Mask!"
