Synopsis for "The Commissar"

When the commissar has his father hanged, a boy pretends to be an idiot seeking employment in order to get close to him. When the villagers have had enough and shoot the commissar's guards, the boy pretends to help him, but actually hands him a deadly explosive which will soon cause his arm to tire and release his grip upon the bottle.

Synopsis for "The Baby-Sitter"

Tom and Mary plan to get a baby-sitter for their kids so they can enjoy a night at the restaurant but Tom has misgivings about the ugly old hag who arrives on their doorstep. On the way to the restaurant Mary admits to Tom that she forgot to check the sitter's credentials and they turn back. The story builds tension by making it seem as though the couple are concerned with the welfare of the children but the resolution reveals that the kids were abusing the sitter.
