Synopsis for "When the Bubble Burst"
In the near utopia of 1996, the White House is broken into by a man protected by an impenetrable bubble. Confronting the President, the man explains that he is a Martian, that both his people and the Venusians had infiltrated human society in the past few decades to advance its technology so as to make it a powerful ally in their preferred goals -- for the Martians, universal conquest; for the Venusians, peaceful coexistence. To force humanity into an alliance with Mars and a war upon Venus, the Martian has come to assassinate the President and frame a Venusian. The Martian then learns that the Venusians are not necessarily pacifists, as the President -- himself a Venusian infiltrator -- then shoots a weapon he had hidden nearby, shattering the bubble and striking the Martian assassin within.
