Synopsis for "The Contest of Champions!"

Earth's most powerful fighters have been abducted to an otherworldly arena by the Grandmaster to face the Champion in a series of one-on-one combat matches. The Hulk doesn't even care though, as once he sees the Thing, all he can think about is settling their own rivalry. When Hulk breaks free of his cage to attack Thing, interrupting Thor's match, Grandmaster wagers his Infinity Gem against Champion's if he can defeat the green behemoth. Unable to reason with Hulk and seeing a different opportunity, the Thing grabs Champion and puts him between himself and Hulk's fists. Champion is soon forced to yield and Grandmaster returns the Earthlings to their home, gaining his prize of a second Infinity Gem.

Solicit Synopsis

• The writer of the hit Disney XD series brings the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes from the TV to your home! • It’s the Heavyweight Championship of the Universe as The Hulk takes on the Thing! • Next, it’s science-fiction at it’s finest, as Ant-Man enters the Microverse!

Notes

  • First story shows Thor in the outfit he started wearing in his return to Earth in "Secret Invasion", during which, and for a while afterwards, Banner was imprisoned by the Hulkbusters. So the story would have to take place after the Hulk is freed in "Deadliest Man Alive".
  • Second story takes place after Widow comes out of hiding following "Secret Invasion", and before Radioactive Man's death in "Assault on 42". Widow has apparently in some form joined the Avengers during this story.
  • Includes "Fury Files" dossier on Hawkeye, with screenshots from the clip compilation segment aired alongside episodes of the show, adapted by Chris Eliopoulos.
