Mary Edwards, a friend of Thomas Halloway (aka the Angel) is the daughter of wealthy parents who often bought her valuable jewels. At times, she often wears phony replicas made out of glass to detour thefts while still looking fashionable. This landed her in some trouble when she ran into Gabby Harris and his gang of jewel thieves. However, the Angel came to her aid.
He told her to turn over her fake necklace to Gabby and his gang so that the Angel could track them to their fence. After doing so, two of the crooks headed off to drop Mary off near her home. The Angel stowed aboard the car and beat the two thugs and tied them up with Mary's help. After dropping Mary off at home, the Angel then busted Gabby and his fence, the owner of Nichols Jewelry.
Later, while on a date with Thomas, Mary overheard some would-be thieves comment on how her necklace was a fake. Insulted, as this time she was wearing the real thing, she told the two crooks off. Thomas quickly ushered Mary to his car before all the thieves in the area came down on them to rob her.[1]
