Overview
Massachusetts officially The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America. Most of its population of 6.4 million live in the Boston metropolitan area. The eastern half of this relatively small state is mostly urban and suburban. The west is primarily rural, also with most of its population in urban enclaves. Massachusetts is the most populous of the six New England states and ranks third in overall population density among the 50 states.
17th Century
In 1626 A.D., the English Colony of Salem was founded by a group of Puritans. It is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It is known primarily as the site of the Salem Witch Trials .The trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft between 1692 A.D. to 1693 A.D. .These trials resulted in the executions many of the residents.[1]
20th Century
The state of Massachusetts was visited in 1943 by the youthful hero Secret Stamp in his civilian guise of Roddy Colt. While visiting Minute Men Country, Colt discovered the Griffin Gang operating in the area and apprehended them as the Secret Stamp[2]. In 1945, a group of pirates were robbing fishermen off the coast of Cape Cod, but were ultimately stopped by the Sub-Mariner[3].Points of Interest

- Massachusetts Academy
- Administrated by headmistress Emma Frost, the Massachusetts Academy was a private education institution specialzing in the training of young mutants. It was analogous to Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It was here that the Hellions were first formed and it later became the base of operations for Generation X.
- Salem
- Founded in 1626, Salem is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It is known primarily as the site of the Salem Witch Trials, it is a major hub for magic-users and as such, at John Hathorne High School, there are rivalries between magic-using students ("wicks") and regular students ("blanks").
