History

Cosmic Brick Crisis

Raft Breakout

Magneto was among the villains hired by Doctor Doom to collect the cosmic bricks. He faced Iron Man, Wolverine and the Hulk in the Raft, after being freed by Sabretooth. Facing down against the three, Magneto used his Magnetic powers to pull Iron Man's MK 6 armour apart, putting him out of the picture. Heading to the Elevator with Magneto, the two were followed by Hulk & Wolverine. After fighting on the elevator, Magneto was able to escape from the raft, with Magneto being joined by Mystique.

Attack on X-Mansion

Frustrated with Loki's loss of the Teseract, Doom had Max Eisenhardt attack the X-Mansion to retrieve the Teseract, bringing the active Brotherhood members with him and sending the X-Men a threatening video message during the attack. Magneto and Mystique were able to recover the tesseract. Once a team of X-Men (Earth-13122) arrived, Mystique disguised herself as Charles Xavier. The team saw through this disguise however, attacking the two. As Magneto and Mystique fled, they were chased by Jean Grey, Iceman and Beast. However, the two were able to escape.

Rise of Liberty

Magneto used his powers to take control of the Statue of Liberty, using the statue to rescue Doom from Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man and Jean Grey and to attack the Roxxon power station to steal its power core. The Broterhood were attacked by a Quinjet holding Hulk, Mr. Fantastic and Wolverine, causing Magneto to retaliate and use the statue to punch the three into the Roxxon plant. Magneto continued to attack the trio as they worked their way through the building but was unsuccseful, eventually leading him to crush the three with Liberty's boot. The trio survived, however, and made their way to Liberty's head, where they defeated Mastermind. However, Magneto was able to succesfully extract the Roxxon core and, Liberty having outdone its usefulness, he decapitated the Statue to get rid of the three. Magneto and Mystique then made their way to work on Asteroid M.

Launch of Asteroid M

After this attack, Magneto was able to place the nuclear core into Asteroid M, discarding Lady Liberty. Captain America, The Thing and Storm tried to stop him from launching Asteroid M but Mystique posing as him and Rhino were able to stall them long enough for Asteroid M to launch.

Magneto's Great Fall

However, Iron Man, Thor and Spider-man were able to reach Asteroid M. Doom sent Magneto to distract the three, Magneto put various obstacles in their way before engaging them directly. Fashioning a metal avatar of himself, and using his magnetism powers to its fullest, Magneto provided a strong offence for the heroes. Despite this, however, they were able to defeat him, fashioning various large objects to destroy his avatar and defeating him in combat. With Doom and Loki abandoning him, the heroes launched Magneto back to Earth. He fell through the top of the Baxter Building shortly after it had been repaired by Damage Control. Agent Coulson was assigned to retrieve Magneto.

Last Stand on the Hellicarrier

Later, after Loki took control of Galactus and planned on destroying the earth, Magneto was one of Loki's former colleagues that Nick Fury acquired the assistance of, with Blonsky and Magneto meeting up with Iron Man and Thor and being briefed. Rendezvousing with Doom, the two took a jet to the Hellicarrier. Magneto was assigned to 'Team Four' with Doctor Doom, Cyclops and Storm. Team Four assembled a replica of Earth that contained Hulk and Thor, this fooled Galactus and they were able to knock him and Loki into the black hole. As per Fury and Doom's earlier agreement, the villains were given a thirty second head-start to escape, an idea that was unintentionally sabotaged by Hulk's inability to count to three, allowing the villains to escape. A Game of Chess

He later returned to the Raft with Mystique to recover his chess board. Not finding it in his room, the duo found it in possession of Mysterio and confronted him. Despite Mysterio using his powers of illusion to evade them, they were ultimately able to defeat him and get the Chessboard back. Magneto and Mystique then celebrated with a game, which Mystique won.
