Maximus was the brother of King Black Bolt.
Maximus was obsessed with taking over his brother place as King, he was finally able to achieve that when he allied himself with A.I.M., with their help he was able to mind control his brother and either mind control or imprison the rest of the Royal family.
Maximus would then take part in an attack against the Avengers Academy alongside his A.I.M. allies, they Avengers ended up freeing Maximus family and defeating him.[1]
