History
Early Life[]
Maximus Jensen's origins remain veiled in mystery, with scant details about his early years. Upon the manifestation of his mutant abilities, which manifested as elephant-like traits, society responded with rejection and exclusion. This adverse reaction instilled within him a deep-seated animosity toward humanity.[3]
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants[]
He was recruited into a new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, led by Exodus, who first clashed with the X-Men in Philadelphia. The villains were quickly dispatched, with Mammomax being easily incapacitated by Iceman.[4] Escaping, the Brotherhood subsequently attacked the Xavier Institute.[5] Mammomax was severely beaten by the Juggernaut before the villains were pulled into an apparent black hole created by the pacifist Xorn. Mammomax commented that he thought he'd joined a group of tough mutants being led by the aforementioned Disciple of Magneto and was disappointed to discover just how weak this version of the Brotherhood really was. Exodus was able to secure a passage back to Earth but because of their failed attempt to properly start a Mutant revolution, the Brotherhood disbanded.[6]
Post M-Day[]
Following the advent of M-Day, Mammomax was one of several mutants who fled to the Institute seeking sanctuary from persecution by Sapien League terrorists. He was rescued from being burned alive at the Institute's front gates by the X-Men.[7] He took up residence on the Institute's grounds with other members of the 198.[8] They lived in tents in the mutant refugee camp.[9]
He also formed a friendship with Erg, Fever Pitch, and Sack. The group witnessed the arrival of Mister M at the institute.[10] He watched him perform tricks for the young mutants. He later used his powers to generate a forcefield around the Sentinels to stop Mammomax and his friends from fighting the machine[11] During an outing into Salem Center, he attacked a boy for calling him "Elephant Man", but a "tracking chip", implanted in his head by the O*N*E, disabled him before he could hurt the boy.[12] Mammomax had the device removed by Mister M along with all the other members of the 198. He also followed Mr. M during his exodus from the Xavier Institute.[13] However the X-Men tried to stop him which lead to Mister M's death and he was returned to the grounds of the institute.[14]
Apocalypse[]
The arrival of Apocalypse at the institute marked him as the savior of the 198. His intention was to enlist them for his cause. This sparked a confrontation with the sentinel guards, yet Mammomax and his allies opted to remain, witnessing the destruction of the robots.[15]
Civil War[]
During the Civil War, Mammomax and the 198 erupted into a riot, driven by their prolonged imprisonment at the institute under government custody.[16] Subsequently, they were relocated to a secret O*N*E facility in the Nevada desert for safety.[17] When sentinels launched an assault, the X-Men intervened to shield the 198. Despite the 198's efforts to assist their rescuers, they were confined for their own safety.[18] The arrival of the Avengers facilitated the X-Men's escape from confinement, restoring the 198's freedom.[19]
Death[]
Mammomax's harrowing saga took a darker turn when he fell into the clutches of the Facility, a shadowy organization notorious for its creation of X-23. Captured and subjected to their cruel experiments, Mammomax became a pawn in their relentless pursuit of power. Utilizing their twisted scientific prowess, the Facility unleashed a monstrous entity known as Predator X, designed to kill and consume mutants. Tragically, Mammomax found himself ensnared in this nightmarish ordeal, becoming a sacrificial lamb to the insatiable appetite of the abomination created by the Facility.[20]
Krakoa[]
Mammomax was presumably resurrected by the Five in Krakoa and joined the new mutant nation. He was seen alongside many other Krakoans onlooking at Charles Xavier corpse after his death at the hands of anti-mutant super-human criminals whom had somehow infiltrated Krakoa's defenses and killed many of its residents, including Xavier.[2] He was later at the Green Lagoon when Nightcrawler presented a statue of Magneto, although presented a joke Magneto used this moment to give a rousing speech.[21]
Dark Riders[]
Mammomax, who now sported the appearance a humanoid four-tusked African elephant, joined Magik's Dark Riders to defeat Harrower as she used Man-Thing's plant body to infect and invade major locations in the world.[22] He was later seen unconscious on the gardens of Krakoa.[23] He later visited the Green Lagoon bar to witness Psylocke's return to Earth and her kiss with John Greycrow.[24] At some point in time, the Dark Riders disbanded, but reunited for one last mission to get Nature Girl and stop the rampage she caused. Their mission was abruptly stopped when they found Curse dead and couldn't find their target.[25]Attributes
Powers
Superhuman Strength: Mammomax was superhumanly strong and, at his peak, possessed sufficient superhuman strength to lift up to 20 tons.[26]
Superhuman Durability: Mammomax possessed a tough, elephant-like skin, muscle and bone tissues that rendered him highly resistant to conventional physical injury. Mammomax could withstand tremendous impact forces, high caliber bullets, falls from great heights, powerful energy blasts, attacks from most bladed weapons, and exposure to temperature extremes without sustaining injury.[26]
Corrosive Expulsion: Mammomax also possessed the ability to expel highly corrosive stomach acid from his mouth. While he himself was immune to the corrosive effects, the acid was able to dissolve and eat through most conventional materials.[26]See Also
