Maxwell Shiffman was a television producer who saw Spider-Man's first exhibition fight against Crusher Hogan and offered to break him into television [1]. He became Spider-Man's show business agent for Spider-Man before J.J. Jameson's anti-Spider-Man campaign forced him to drop Spider-Man's contract[2]. He was later duped into assisting Mysterio by an illusion of his late wife returned to life. [3]

Maxie possesses the normal human strength for a man his age, height, and build who engages in minimal regular exercise.
