History
The Megans are a one-eyed semi-humanoid race whose homeworld, Mega, is the third planet from the sun in the Mirpet star system of the Milky Way Galaxy.[1]
Centuries ago, war broke out between the Megans and the Betans who inhabited their rival planet, Beta. The war was initially fought with conventional weapons but eventually, after both planets became depleted of precious materials, both sides began to capture gargantuan monsters from alien worlds to use as living weapons. By exhausting the supplies of such war-monsters, the two races have allegedly eliminated the potential for further life on a dozen different planets. The war-monsters used by the Megans were known as the Mega-Monsters.[2]
In the last known battle between the two enemies, the Betans and their war-monsters were all but destroyed, and they would have fallen if the Megans had launched one more all-out attack on them. However, the Betans managed to hide their weakness, deceiving the Megans into believing that the balance of power between the two races was still maintained. As a result, the Warlords of Mega concluded that they needed to replenish their supply of raw materials in order to create the armaments that they would need to conquer the Betans. The Warlords decided that the best way to do this would be to conquer and plunder Earth and they planned to send their three most powerful Mega-Monsters (Triax, Rhiahn and Krollar) there to prepare the way for their conquest.[2] To help ensure that conquest, the Warlords also sent a spacecraft, Megan-Booster One, to Earth with a crew who had been ordered to use the Energex-Ray on the Mega-Monsters to increase their offensive capabilities. The Warlords believed that these enhanced abilities would enable the monsters to kill Earth's champions and crush Earth's defenses long before the energy overload killed them.[3]
However, the Megans were unaware that the Betans had anticipated their plans and had built a secret base on Earth's Moon in order to find any native life-forms powerful enough to defend Earth. The Betans found Godzilla and chose him to fight for Earth in the hope that he could prevent the Megan conquest of Earth and save their homeworld. Accordingly, once Triax had reached Earth and attacked the native champion Red Ronin, the Betans transported Godzilla to the site of the battle.[2]
Monitoring the battle from their homeworld, the Warlords soon realized that Triax alone would be unable to destroy the two Earth champions and ordered Rhiahn and Krollar to join him. Telepathically directed in their attacks by the Warlords, the Mega-Monsters managed to decapitate the Red Ronin robot just seconds before they were struck by the Energex-Ray that increased their size, strength and ferocity.[3] With Godzilla as the sole surviving Earth champion, the Megan conquest seemed to be assured until S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Dum Dum Dugan and Gabe Jones joined in the battle, piloting separate flying vehicles in attacks on two of the Mega-Monsters. Athough the Warlords commanded the trio to unite against Godzilla, these distracting attacks prevented them from doing so and allowed Godzilla to concentrate on one Mega-Monster at a time,
enabling him to kill all three of them in quick succession. With the death of the last of the three Mega-Monsters, the Warlords were forced to terminate their attempt to conquer Earth. Since they were now to be without the location and materials that Earth would have provided, their leader suggested that their war with the Betans should also be terminated, asking if there were any among them who were not tired.[4]Powers and Abilities

Notes
- The Warlords of Mega demonstrated the ability to communicate telepathically with beings on Earth even though they were light-centuries away. It has not been revealed if all Megans are so telepathic or if only the Warlords had such capabilities or if that ability was technological in nature instead of biological/psionic.
- Although the Betans (and the Omniscient Narrator) both claimed that using the Energex-Ray on the Mega-Monsters would (and did) increase their strength and ferocity tenfold, the story itself did not depict such a significant increase in their offensive capabilities.
