History

Mendinao is an herbalist responsible for maintaining the growth and purity of the sacred heart-shaped herb on Wakandan soil. He also oversees the administration of that herb to a new potential chieftain and Black Panther, and the occasional re-administration of the herb through sacred rites.

In some circumstances, Mendinao also serves as spokesman for the Panther Cult, and the Panther Goddess Bast herself. When T'Challa seemingly lost his connection to the Panther Spirit, Mendinao had authority to temporarily remove the king as ruler of Wakanda until he could prove he had regained the Panther's blessing.
