History

Mephisto's history is presumably similar to his Earth-616 counterpart's. He made a deal with Phil Coulson to change the world. Through the Pandemonium Cube, Coulson warped reality into Earth-21798. In this world, the Squadron Supreme were the world's premiere superheroes instead of the Avengers who never formed. Also, instead of the United States worshipping Yahweh, they worshipped Mephisto. They even had "In Mephisto We Trust" on their currency instead of "In God We Trust".

He once made a deal with the Blur and his wife Mary Jane Stewart to sacrifice their marriage for some unknown purpose. When the Squadron Supreme went to investigate the newly assembled Avengers, Mephisto told Coulson that the more people spoke the word "Avengers", the more the world unraveled. To save their world, Coulson planned to use the Pandemonium Cube again.
