History

Mercedes Merced is the wife of Tony Masters. They were active as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents together when he took the mnemonic primer serum, granting him his powers but costing him his memory of her.

She began acting as his handler, guiding his mercenary work as the "Taskmaster" as best she could in order to develop actionable intelligence that could be passed back to S.H.I.E.L.D. She also did this to aid Tony with his memory loss condition, often helping him to remember their past, only to see Tony forget it again once he absorbs a new skill.
