I am doing some research on the "black circle" Marvel variants and came across this site.
Was wondering about the cover picture you supplied for the Journey Into Mystery 76. It does not have the typical 12 cent "thin" font NOR does it have the black circle with the 12 cents printed in black below it. I have not seen a copy like the one in this entry.
Can you shed any light on the origins of the JIM 76 cover image?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks sir for the quick reply. Actually it was the GCD picture that led me here. They do not have any verification that is a real cover image - here is their response when I asked them the same thing:
"Some of our members looked this over and discussed it and agree that it may be a mock-up of some sort, but no conclusive information was found.?? Ideas offered are that it may be a Promo cover that appeared in a house ad for a real comic that later came out differently, as those are often different than the finished product.?? Information was found here regarding three supposed variants: http://www.recalledcomics.com/Marvel10CentBlackedOutVariants.php .Thanks for the question and we now have people on the lookout for more info and/or better scans - Donald Dale Milne, list admin"
I read the article you talked about when you edited time runs out, and a bunch of other ones, but most of them rehashed the same stuff. The comments on the other hand were golden, I agree with one of them that said marvel won't reboot next year because there reboots always revert back to normal e.g. "House of M" and "Heroes Reborn".
Do you think 616 and 1610 are doing too many crossovers now? For some reason there annual, Spider-Men, Ultimate Cataclym, ans Spider-Verse.
I checked out the comics you've read. Be sure to checkout Hawkeye's Vol.4.
You'll really fall in love, although I wasnt fond of the art at first but came to love it all to fast.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
Hey I just now saw your message below, sorry for writing on your wall.
And so you're a Marvel guy. Same here. I don't know if you ever seen any Steve Dillon but I honestly think he's my favorite, after reading his Punisher MAX& Wolverine Origins. Sad though that he hasnt done many Marvel comics. I'm going to check out more from your artists listed. Anyways thanks!
My recommendation - just leave the wiki. Already had to contact Wikia Staff over the behavior of a few admins, to which they recommended leaving for another wiki "where the contributions of editors were appreciated".
I know you have a pretty thorough collection of handbooks and indexes, so I was wondering if you could answer a question. We are currently listing Dr Doom's Revenge Vol 1 1 as an Earth-616 comic, featuring a team-up of Spider-Man and Captain America fighting Doctor Doom. I was wondering if the indexes for either character makes any mention of this.
I have my doubts, as it's a) a video game tie-in, b) it is not included in the APN tracks that have been added to both characters and c) it's not noted in the Chronology Project. But, the Index seems like it wold carry a definitive answer as to whether or not it's canon.
I didn't notice its presence in the Spider-Man index, but the index doesn't cover everything. I highly doubt that it is canon. I read it when it was published because I bought that game. I don't remember any details of the story. I assume it was a standard and generic team-up story with no connection to 616. If I was the person who put those 616 listings in there, it was just laziness on my part. They should probably be text entries as I doubt Marvel will ever assign an alt to that comic.
But the thing is, I'm not even sure if all of the realities listed on marvunapp are even specifically from Handbooks. The designation of Earth-13410 appeared just after X-Treme X-Men Vol 2 #10 came out, and the general list is updated every now and then.
