  • In the same way we have a Category:Reprints Category Needed for the Comic template,could get one but Comic Images. Please

    • I didn't think that it's controversial to say that user space pages shouldn't be in main namespace categories. Am I wrong?

  • Hi, after discussing potential changes in two templates here, I wanted to ask you about implementing them. The first change would be to make the vd template capable of changing its date (so that for instance, writing {{vd|Marvel Future Fight|05-30-2018}} could make vd display "(May 30, 2018)" below the game's name in the infobox instead of "(April 30, 2015)" (which is the game's original release date).

    The second change would be to make it so the Video Game Template can have more than one appearances list and synopsis, similar to the comic book template. However, I would also need some articles to be able to have an overarching appearances list before the rest that is meant to encompass every character that appears in the game, rather than on a chapter-by-chapter basis. You can see more or less what I mean in this sandbox of mine. Since it's a game where what characters you play as depends on the player, I wanted to include an appearances list before the first story chapter appearances/synopsis combo.

    Thanks in advance.

      This. Just a simple template to be used within Video Game Template if needed. If "release_date" is the only additional parameter, then it could be done with just a simple message below the "Appearing in ..." header. Something like "This part of the story was released on ...", then list of appearances and synopsis.

    • Okay, that sounds perfect.

  • I don't know if you saw my discord message but due to a [issue], we need to add some copyright language near a handful of staff images, could I get a |ImageText= field added that appears below the image to show this

      Loading editor
    • Done. There was already "ImageText" parameter, but it wasn't working properly. I fixed it. You can see an example here - Al Jaffee.

    • Thank you both for stepping up and resolving this very quickly after it was brought to our attention.

  • Hey, do you maybe think there could be a section in the events/story arcs pages so we can add the comics/TPBs that reprint that story arc? For example, the page Heist could say:

    Reprinted in

    above the notes section?

    • If you just want a new section that would be filled manually by users, then it can be easily added into template. But why can't it be stated in "Issues" sections with a subsection? Or in "Notes"?

      On the other hand, if you want it to be filled automatically by template itself, then it should be possible to do, but isn't easy or fast to do.

    • I could manually add a subsection into 'Issues' - how easy is it to create a new subsection?

        Loading editor
    • Just use headers, something like:

      ===Reprinted in===
      * {{c|Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer #2: Friends And Foes}}
      * {{c|Astonishing Spider-Man Vol 7 46}}
      * {{c|Astonishing Spider-Man Vol 7 47}}

  • Something is going wrong with the volume template

      Loading editor
    • You mean that issues are now displayed in a column? Weird, none of the changes I've made today should have caused it. Even weirder, the new volume template I'm working on displays everything correctly. I would check all my edits.

        Loading editor
    • Well, I reverted part of my today's work and situation seems to be fixed, but I still don't understand why it appeared. Really weird.

  • As discussed here, would it be possible to alter the Marvel Database:Character Template so that the "Universe" field would accept a fractional character and properly autogenerate Category:Earth-33⅓ Characters accordingly?

  • Hi Harasar, the What If? 2018 page (and possibly others with a similar issue format) don't list in order of release like they were before. Is there a way to fix that?

      Loading editor
    • Hi. They are sorted by name, instead of date. I can probably add a new parameter, something like "SortByReleaseDate" to change it, when needed. But I don't really see a problem, at least in this case. They are six one-shots, not connected to each other, so the order doesn't seem important.

    • I converted it to the proper template, it's a Comic Disambiguation, not a Comic Volume.

  • Hiya, I'm Tupka217, one of the DC Admins. I noticed you converted the old Template:StaffCorrection and essentually merged it with the Module. We still used it on the Image Template, but it's dumb to maintain two lists alongside each other. So I wanted to ask you - are you okay if I use your code? Fully credited of course? I might need to change some page names but from what I see it should work for us too.

    I figured it nicer to ask before implementing it rather than coming to you later "aaah your code doesn't work". We sorely lack LUA expertise on the other side and my own skill in portable infoboxes doesn't go further than copy pasting elements from other templates. This would scratch one item of my ever growing list of "things I need to fix because no one else is".

  • Hi Harasar, why is the production field classed as "outdated"? I use it on the Panini reprints pages, as they have listed:

    • Editor (Editor-in-Chief)
    • Designer (Production1_1)
    • Cover Artist (Reprint_CoverArtists)
      Loading editor
    • Hi! I'm in the process of recreating Comics Template from scratch with Lua. "Production" is one of the fields I hadn't seen used often, so I created "Outdated Fields" categories to check how many pages use these fields and for that exactly. They all are used for testing purposes and I would delete them once I finish with template.

        Loading editor
    • Ahh... I see. I know you're busy and appreciate the work you've done, but if you see an issue, could you make the production section add categories to the page, like it does with cover artists, for example. Because that would be really helpful to anyone who's looking for a certain designer (and I think I named someone wrong back when I was starting) so having a category would be helpful to see which pages I got her name wrong on (although they may be all fixed).

        Loading editor
    • No problem. I should have clarified purpose of these categories long ago.

      Yeah, adding categories for production, publishers, CCO, etc. is part of the work I'm doing. Not sure why they weren't categorized before.

    • Me neither, but thanks :)
