  • Hey, Is there a way to hide any sections that are empty on the comic template until they get filled in, such as Recommended Reading, Trivia, Links etc?

      Loading editor
    • Yeah, it's possible. Just give me the list of sections that should be hidden.

        Loading editor
    • | Notes = | Trivia = | Recommended = | Links =

These are the four that are commonly empty from the template and if Footnotes is a separate section

        Loading editor
    • Done. Everything, except Footnotes - it can't be hidden automatically, because there is no simple way to check if there is any references on the page or not.

  • I've been talking about this idea with others, and I think we could benefit from it. On comic pages for issues that hasn't been released yet, we have it in the template that until that release date approaches, the appearances sections aren't listed.

I've been thinking of having it the same way on pages for upcoming movies, where it instead at the top lists the cast list, and once the movie comes out it will display the characters appearing in it. As it is now, while we don't have appearance categories for unreleased movies, it does make it so characters we know will appear in the movie is listed twice, and there is a lot of assumptions as to which characters will end up being supporting, antagonists and minor.

    • FYI: Current iteration of the template seems to break Appearances header like this: https://i.imgur.com/sJz0q4i.png HBK123 (talk) 09:15, March 18, 2019 (UTC)

It's the tagline that's causing that.

  • Hey, I have further use for your skills if you have time. I've been thinking about an idea for a new template on dealing with reprints. Currently we either use the normal comic template or we use Marvel Database:Test Reprint Template. I was wondering if you could help make a new one that doesn't add the appearance tags, but does pull all the appearance list and synopsis from the original comic like the test reprint template. I was also wondering since sometimes these could be up to 30 comics, if this could be presented like Events list there comics. See Schism (Event). If this is at all too complicated then don't worry.

    • After some additional testing, I've managed to get rid of all categories.

      Now User:Harasar/Sandbox/Reprint has three variants:

      • test1 - all tags preserved, no categories added.
      • test2 - no categories added, but not all tags are removed properly - this variant can be now ignored.
      • test3 - all tags and categories deleted.

test1 seems to be the best variant, but there is a need to test it out on some other comic issues with complex tags. Do ypu have any ided which comic is best for such tests?

    • I'm definitely a fan of the first one, Amazing Spider-Man Vol 4 2 Has some slightly complicated tagging, I think we would need to test out the template in combination with some of the continuity notes, that Nausiated has been implementing, so Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_1 and ones that use apn tags

  • Congratulations on your promotion, please keep in mind that any changes to coding can affect thousands of articles at a time, so be sure to always extensively check the potential outcome on various pages anytime a change is made.

Also feel free to upload a unique profile picture to File:User-Harasar.jpg for use on the Marvel Database:Administrators article if you'd like, oh and message me on Discord if you use that, and we can make sure your promotion is reflected there as well.

    • Wow, thanks. That is unexpected. I'm not really good at anything other than coding, but I will give it my best.

      I'm not using Discord.

    • It's very easy to use if you're worried about that.

  • Another quick favor, template we use to add membership categories (Member of) seems to create an extra space when two or more memberships are added, but only when you explicitly add the reality see James Howlett (Earth-TRN258). Is there a quick fix to remove this. I would just not use the reality at the end, but if the expected team page doesn't exist, it redirect's to the disambig/hub page and I would rather it be a red link to be page, so people know that it doesn't exist yet and may create it.

  • I would like to start using your new Character dismabiguation on multiple pages, if none of the admins or mods have any problems with it, couple of questions. How do I add more reality descriptions? How does it select, Movies and TV, since Earth-TRN700-Earth-TRN704 are movie characters and are showing up under the normal list?

    • I'm not sure why, but the template seems to be selectivly linking to Comic_Books so its appeared on Wanted Pages. Any idea why, or how to stop it

  • There seems to be some weird things happening with some categories and I don't know why

I can't figure out why some Appearance Catergories are appearing in Others such as Category:High_Line_Park/Appearances is linking to itself and 7 others such as Category:Nathaniel Richards (Earth-41571)/Appearances, and Category:Giza/Appearances‎. The only thing I can find is they all appear on All-New,_All-Different_Avengers_Vol_1_13

Category:Bears/Appearances‎ is also doing the same thing as the above categories

Including another non existent one: Category:Hradar (Earth-616)/Mentions, these specifically seem to be from Savage Sword of Conan Vol 1 179

  • Recently, a new user has been replacing covers with new, higher quality versions. This is a feature normally reserved for admins and mods, or so we thought. We were wondering if other users also have access to this feature so if you could try and upload the following image:

    https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/CatalogImage/STL099722?type=1

with the file name: Immortal Hulk Vol 1 9 Textless.jpg

to test if things are working properly. Thanks!

  • I noticed with the announcement of Captain Marvel Vol 10, and for a while with the Punisher ones, is that Cis and Cid doesn't automatically add a # next to the issue number (like Captain Marvel Vol 10 #1). You wouldn't perhaps know a solution to it on Template:Cis and Template:Cid?

  • Hi!

Sorry, I checked how you created the category only AFTER undoing some stuff.

That said, I really believe the "sleep-based" powers shouldn't be confused with the dream-based (who could be a subset of sleep based, if the category is relevant).

Then, careful to not add characters who simply lacks control, and use their powers in dreams (like Amber).

    Have a good day.

    • Hello. Yeah, I thought about the same thing after I added them to the category, and wanted to revert edits myself. Thanks for help.
