Hey Buddy! Edit

How's the ol' Bot comin' along? Did you happen to check out these pages?
--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 05:33, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

hey Edit

how's it gonig, dude? Blackspider 16:09, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

This site kicks behind, man! It has some stuff the official Marvel site dosen't!

Glad you like it...nice thing is that you can edit to your hearts delight! (well...pretty much)...if you have any trouble let me or another admin know and we will be happy to help out. --M1shawhan 18:10, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

I lost the picture Edit

On the Hulk's page somehow I got rid of the Hulk's picture on the template I don't how I did. Do you think you can fix it? I tried but can't.--The Hulkster 16:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I was noticing some pic delays the other day when I was on. I looked and it is there now. If you ever see the delays happen it is usually the site "catching up" on the servers. You will see a placeholder with the link to the image on the page, but no actual picture. As long as the link has an attachment on there (active link) then it is fine. If it is ever a "red-link" and not attached to anything then there is a problem. ;) Looks good now though. --M1shawhan 20:35, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

What's the difference? Edit

Between May Parker (Earth-982)/Images and /Gallery? Is there a good reason we should separate them? --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 19:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Good question...not so good answer. This was kind of what I was getting at when I asked Jamie about it here. Let me know whatcha think cause I'm not sure, but I think the "difference" that I was finding was that one's a PAGE and one's a category. I think they should be combined (truthfully on a page, with the category "Images" tagged on). That's my take on it. Let me know what you think. --M1shawhan 00:44, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks for the tip. I'd just stumbled across that in the template and was wondering if that's what it was for. I'm just starting my contributions (as you can probably tell) so any other tips, guides or resources are welcome. I think for now I'm going to make sure comic info is updated as I read them and write/rewrite summaries if needed. Oh, and fix up any typos or inconsistencies that I see along the way. --Bengartner 04:23, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

One thing I did notice. The whole "616" thing is kind of a mess. It would be nice if articles could be tagged with a specific universe, than any link would automatically redirect to the entry for the same universe by default. I'm sure someone has already thought of this and it's probably a big headache to implement, but just wondering if anyone is working on something like that I guess.

Flash Thompson (Earth-1610) Edit

Hi. I believe Flash Thompson (Earth-1610) actually is called Fred (according to Wikipedia, and, apparently, Ultimate Spider-Man #65), and not Eugene, as his Earth-616 counterpart is. Greetings, The Clever Guy (TalkContribsE-Mail) 16:58, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Changed. You can also setup a move on any of these pages with {{move|abcd123}} and it will create a move in case I don't get to them. --M1shawhan 00:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

So little time. . . Edit

Hey there buddy, hope it was a happy new year. I can take care of those little tasks I think. Got the bot running the first appearances right now, and I'm looking at the spoiler code. I found one error, but I want to be sure that's all there is before I say it's good to go. Do you have an example at hand that was giving the error? I'd be nice to make sure it's working right. If I can't solve it today, I'll give it more of a look this weekend. Have a good one! Oh, a little ps, I almost solved the Cast Variables problem. I have a bot that will look up the names in the Cast sections to see if they are redirects, and it will auto-change them if they are a redirect to another page. This works GREAT for about 90% of the Casts. The only ones it doesn't work on are the ones that redirect to disambigs. (Like 'Spider-Man'). I'm still working on that one, but it'll definitely take a human eye to decide which version in the disambig page is the right version for the comic. So there's that. . . : ) --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 05:45, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

The Comic Template should be fixed, so let me know if you see any more unnecessary spoilers. A page that I find myself using for reference CONSTANTLY is this, in case you want to know how I figured it out. Hope you don't mind, but I'd like to take a look at the color code you mentioned on Jamie's talk page next. (Though I find the blue soothing. ; ) ) And the bot should have picked up all the (First appearance), (Death), (Main story and flashback), and (Only appearance)[1] tags, so if you see any instances that should be changed, shoot me a message about which page they're on, and I'll run the bot through again. : )
--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 15:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
All done! But you guys should pick colors for neutral and when Alignment isn't filled in, if we're keeping the blue for good. I like the color of Bad, but it doesn't mesh all that amazingly with the darker-Blue links. For good measure, I put the same code in the distinguish block.
You can play with it here. : )

"'s Edit

So now the the Story titles will be surrounded by quotes if there is no quotes in the StoryTitle block. If there are quotes in it, even once, it won't change the Story Title at all. If you see any errors or weird stuff, let me know, and we'll fix it! : ) Hope that's what you were asking for, the "'s is some weird looking text, haha. --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 02:04, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Bots Edit

I sure do. . .here it is. If you need me to, I can email it instead. The file's not perfect, but it works, and I've tried to fix the errors that it throws, but haven't been able to yet. Let me know if you need more instructions on how to put the file together, you basically save it as in a text editor, and then put it into the families folder of your bot. --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 02:38, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Forums Edit

I received a CGI error when I tried to submit the form for registering. It said that the http headings/prefixes were not present. I hope that clears the issue up, somewhat. Strongholyscholar 00:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Earth-6141 Edit

What's up man, Some people have been interchangeably using Earth-6141 with Earth-Evil Charles (That's the name I made up for it), and I saw that you used 6141 on Beast's disambig page. Where did the number come from? I know that it represents the Dark X-Men that were in the first few books of the New Excalibur series, but I wanted to know what book actually gave the Reality a number. You have any help for me in this area? Thanks! --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 18:20, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

LOL...I thought I saw you using it so I changed it when I was going through the page. If it does not have one, change it back. I hate those named universes. If I were Marvel and I started off using Earth #''d think I would make sure that Uatu went thru and named them all...maybe they need to have a comic where Uatu does nothing but show a repository of all the Earth's and their #'s...they'd create less confusion AND make a buck or two off of it. Sorry for the confusion. --M1shawhan 23:42, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Team variable in the cast Edit

I believe that I don't use the word "cast" on here the same way you do. . . heh heh heh. "on the character Template is a "Team" variable in the Cast" . . .hmmmm. This could mean that you'd like to have a place like | Team = in the Character Template so we could put in whatever teams the character has been in and it would automagic the categorization of those teams. It could also mean that you'd like to have a place like | Team1 = in the Comic Category inbetween the | Cast1 = area and the | Location1 = area for the placement of the appearances of Teams in a comic. (This makes more sense with the "We need a "Team Appearances" Category and variable there" statement, but these things are hard to describe anyway). ; )

I do wonder where 6141 came from. . . if you didn't do it, and I didn't do it. . . it must've been a ghost wikier! I was hoping it was true, to be honest, and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to change ALL of the Earth-Evil Charles' to Earth-6141's. I had to do it for Earth-Nocturne, and it was more of a chore than I bargained for. I'd just like to know that 6141 is the real and right Earth Desig so I can make sure all the moves are handled correctly. Plus, somehow I missed the discussion in the New Excalibur books (2007) that those evil versions of the first X-Men were the same ones from the first two issues of Exiles back in like 2000 or 2001. Seems unlikely to me, since Magneto was a good guy in the Exiles one, and he seems to pool a lot of the typically good guys around him when Xavier is either missing or dead. But that's just my two-bits (Adjusted from two cents for inflation).

--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 02:03, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Sheesh...I meant Team1 = , Team2 = on the Comic Template.
As far as the 6141's...that was my bad, but I thought I was following someone's suit. It WAS my bad though, that I did not verify it before changing it. I just saw that there was a numbered name for that and went along with it. Truthfully, I should have gone with gut instinct on that one since it seemed that there was some "disconnect" on the Shadow X-Men (Excalibur) and the Exile ones...ugh. Long story short, I will go back and change them to Earth-Evil Charles...besides, gives me a chance to play with my bot...hehehe! --M1shawhan 02:12, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I can see what you mean, that would be helpful. I've been putting Teams into the Cast variables anyway. I also put alternate Earths in the location variables.
That's some mighty fine bot work you've been doing!

Event Template Idea Edit

Anybody think this idea might be useful?

--Roygbiv666 14:44, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Minor Related Articles Edit

Done and Done. The links only show up if the page exists, weather it's /Gallery, /Appearances, Category:/Appearances, /Fan Art, or /Quotes. I also fixed the Categorization of the disambig pages, check out Piotr Rasputin. The key is for the | Name = field to be exactly the same as the original pagename. I'm working on a fix to where this will be automatic, but haven't figured it out yet. : )

--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talkcontribsemail) 14:52, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

DUDE!!!!!!!! YOU REALLY ROCK!!!! That category thing has been bugging me to no end....I can now sleep. Thank you ;) --M1shawhan 01:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Yay Sleep! Thanks. In case you didn't catch it on Jamie's talk page, I threw in three more buttons above the editing space, minor characters (The character guy with a miner's helmet), the race template (The checkered flag), and the reality template (The Earth, as in "Earth-"). Hopefully these buttons will get some good use! Not so sure the Race one will be used that much after we get the currently existing races down though. . .
