== This Week's Comics ==

Hope you don't mind that I did them this week. Figure since it wasn't up by Tuesday that you might be busy. Feel free to alter it (or completely redo it) at your whim. Sorry if I stepped on your toes. --GrnMarvl14 18:15, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

to put anything i thought was good enough to put anything on here. but you know that when i do you are the first person i run by to see what you thought. anyway...i hope you're holidays went well...and that the new year began with the possibilties of it only getting better. (Drkartdavis 23:18, January 26, 2010 (UTC))

i will forever love the main page edits for the new comic books being added on! recently, i havent been buying as many comics, and this reallly keeps me pretty up-to-date on what the heck is even going on presently. so just wanted to say thanks! :)) but yeah.. on X-Men Forever #17, the cover is the same (although textless) as 18. just filling you in so you know and can find out whats wrong with it.. --Johnnybravo44 06:28, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Sage (Tessa)?Edit

i thought the Sage page had (Tessa) on it, do you know when it changed, and why? --Johnnybravo44 17:48, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

oh okay. so it didnt change in the comics though, just here? like, she'll still be referenced to as Tessa maybe in the comics? --Johnnybravo44 17:58, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

okay, cause i thought that it changed there too, and then we'd be another step away from learning yet another characters full name. although we still have yet to learn it.. --Johnnybravo44 18:48, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Quick QuestionEdit

I love the updates on X-Men Vol 2! but i got a question about the character Meek. is there a reason it does not say (Mojoverse) on his name at the top of his page? Just wondering is all. --Johnnybravo44 19:55, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yes! that actually does help a bit!

once again, like the Vol 2 work, and i was wondering do you plan on going through the entire series, or at least up to date on it? nothing weird, just wondering cause its probably my favorite series and i like the work youve done on it. --Johnnybravo44 20:27, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

ok. yeah ive been updating Alpha Flight Vol 1 recently and im on issue 50 and im just tired of seeing the name over and over again.. haha. ><

but actually on images ive gotta another question, is there an exact name that the file for the cover should go under? or something like that? --Johnnybravo44 20:39, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

So, for example, Alpha Flight #1s cover code would be 'Alpha Flight Vol 1 1.jpg'? --Johnnybravo44 21:57, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
cool. so just move the ones that are messed up then, or not like that? --Johnnybravo44 00:28, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

ok just one more thing. now that i understand what to edit it like, where to edit it, and most imporantly why, im still unsure how to move the file. it seems like i would go to the picture and then click 'edit this page' and then click 'move' and such. but there is no move. so then what would it be? --Johnnybravo44 03:08, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

oh.. so i basically cant move it?

wow. well, i dont really think im close or nothing, but is there something you like gotta do to be an admin.? like a number of edits or something like that? --Johnnybravo44 07:30, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

um.. wow. cool.

--Johnnybravo44 07:43, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Patrolled?Edit

I saw something about patrolling edits? How's that work? Eetmi 00:25, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Ah, so it's not something we're actually doing then? I thought it was and was wondering why I couldn't see the link at the top of the screen. Think it's something we should have turned back on? Or would it only render unto us more of this thing called "work". Eetmi 02:46, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Cartoon TemplatesEdit

Question for ya. I've got the animated page template that I'm tinkering with and I can't quite get the results looking right. Do you mind taking a look?

http://mightythor.wikia.com/wiki/The_Mighty_Thor_(animated_series) http://mightythor.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Series_List

I copied them over there because I've never been able to figure out how to use the sandbox :D Anyway, what I'm trying to do is get the episode listings to disappear when they're not in use, and to move them up a little on the page so there's not that big empty gap at the top. Eetmi 18:51, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

What I was talking about is you see how the top of the category listings starts parallel to the bottom of the info box? How do I get that to move up flush to the top of the page? Eetmi 01:06, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Thor redirectEdit

Hey Matt, just wondering why the redirect keeps being deleted from Category:Thor (Thor Odinson)/Appearances to the Category:Thor Odinson (Earth-616)/Appearances? Eetmi 06:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I'll leave it alone then. So do we continue to put appearances as Thor Odinson (Earth-616)? And then at some point in the future, and bot will create the merge page, right? Eetmi 01:09, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Scheele Edit

Just pointing this out: Christie Scheele and Max Scheele. --GrnMarvl14 00:36, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

...I was just making sure you knew of both. Didn't know if you did or not. But, yeah, the first sounds great. Only issue is if we find out who some of the Many Hands are, or instances where a "team" is listed for the inking or coloring (can't think of any off the top of my head, mind you, but I'm sure you know what I mean). Kind of ruins the "putting what's listed in the comic" when what's listed applies to groups of individuals who don't always work together.
--GrnMarvl14 02:09, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Rollbacks Edit

Just posted on the forums. Nice, big post. Will explain the rollbacks. I hope. If not...well...guess you'll ask about what doesn't. --GrnMarvl14 00:33, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Image ID Help Edit

Since you seem to have gone through a large number of Uncanny X-Men issues, you seem like the best person to ask. Sabretooth (Earth-161) 0001 This image is an obvious nod to an infamous Wolverine image...but I can't remember the issue the original is from. Happen to know it so I can tack it onto the notes section for the image (or feel free to tack it on yourself)? --GrnMarvl14 01:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, anyway. Guess I'll just have to hunt it down the hard way. I know the general plot of the issue it's from, and the general number (early-mid 100s), so I should be able to find it.
--GrnMarvl14 01:55, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for the eavesdropping, but I have the answer. It is the last panel of Uncanny X-Men #132. Wolverine got dropped into the sewers by Harry Leland and poses dramatically. It was repeated with Kitty Pryde in Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #15. Here is an external link to the image[1]. Apparently we don't have one here. :(
Artful Dodger

...And another thing...Edit

I'm starting to see a lot of this. I just created a page for Ame-No-Mi-Kumari (Earth-616) but the image doesn't show up on the page. If you click on the x'd out image, it's there and it appears fine, but it doesn't show up through the character template, and I've started to see this a few times now. Eetmi 03:06, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

SolicitsEdit

Hey Matt, I've got something I want to ask you about on the solicits. Is there a way that the coding can calculate the week of the year? For example, next week would be week 32 out of the 52 weeks of the year. What I'm thinking on the solicits is have it autocategorize by the week, so any book with a list of |ReleaseDate = 8-5-2009 would show up under Category:Week 32 Solicts. So if I go in and change the date on the release date, it would then change to the correct category automatically for the gallery? I just updated it for next week, and there were four books that got moved back, just trying to make things a little smoother. Eetmi 02:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Man, I just seem to keep coming up for more work for you and Pete, don't I? If it's a hassle, just skip it. Just throwing ideas against the wall.

Eetmi 02:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh cool, but I never think "Yeah, hurry up and get on that!" or anything like that. I just kind of have a vision of what this could ultimately be (the wiki I mean). THE ultimate Marvel place. Where there would be no need whatsoever for any fan sites, they would all be encompassed here. Comics, toys, cartoons, video games, merchandise, t-shirts, the works. If it's Marvel, it's here. Can you imagine what this could really be, if everyone running a fan site right now, migrated their site info to here? The guy running spiderfan.org could basically be the spidey "editor", the guys at uncannyxmen.net could oversee the x-men "wing" of the place, and so on.

Eetmi 02:48, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Either way is fine. Where I was going with just the Week thing was not bothering with the year, and rehasing Week 31, etc next year, by manually removing them from that category once they come out. Automation is always good though.  :D Eetmi 02:06, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
No I'm not removing the releasedate information, the only thing that's doing is putting it in Category:Solicitations until the day after it comes out (I think, might be the day of), and from then on, it just shows under the cover image as Release On:August 6, 2009 or whatever. Which I think is really cool, so people can see the actual date it hit the streets. But my planning was to just manually re-use the Category:Week 35 next year, and just start counting the Wednesdays. So the first Wednesday of 2010 would be Week 1, and so on. Eetmi 02:36, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not, but check out Amazing Spider-Man #605 and let me know. It's creating some sort of little "1" at the bottom of the page. Eetmi 02:58, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I see, said the blind man. One question though, after the release date passes, like the books that came out yesterday, the book is automatically removed from Category:Solicits. What about this category, does it automatically remove them from it too, or are they always going to be there? Eetmi 03:11, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Ah. So how does the template automatically remove the books from the Category:Solicits after the release date? Just thought of another question. So when January 2010 solicits come out, and I go to change the template to reflect those dates, would that then take them out of that category since the dates would more or less no longer match up? So instead of ReleaseDate = 8-5-2009, next year it would change to ReleaseDate = 8-7-2010. Just trying to thing all the things through. Eetmi 03:20, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, just joined into Java chat Eetmi 03:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

EditsEdit

Is there a way the wiki can be set up to where no two people can edit the same article at the same time? It seems like every other day me and GrnMarvel are trying to edit the same book at the same time, and my edits wind up getting wiped out (I guess he types faster and hits save before I do, or something). Eetmi 01:54, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

"New" booksEdit

Wassup? Noticed you making the books and wanted to throw a thought at you. I noticed that you're setting them for June 2009? Shouldn't these either be set to August or left blank? Because if no one ever goes in to update the book with info it's always going to be showing the wrong month. It would probably make more sense to leave the month blank and set the year. Just sayin'  :D Eetmi 01:49, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I see them all as showing up in June 2009

Eetmi 01:55, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

It's cool. I just started thinking that there's going to be a couple of books that no one's ever going to get to, and it would suck to not only have it not filled out, but have it be the wrong month too. Laters!

Deleting pages with AWB Edit

Do you know of a way to make AWB delete pages automatically? I have found how to do it manually, but that is just as tedious as doing it here.
Artful Dodger 22:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Redirects Edit

Explain to me why having redirects is a good thing. I understand that something like "White Bishop" which may be a name that a user remembers, but is no longer the character's code name. But why are they useful as comic names. We have standardized the comic names (barring annuals and such), so all of those old redirects are not necessary.
I realize this isn't on anyone's To Do list except mine, but I want to make sure that I am not deleting something which has a use. I only want to wipe out unused redirects that are not helping anyone.

Archiving old messages Edit

Is there a trick to archiving my talk page or do I just move the stuff I want to a new User subpage?
Artful Dodger 12:25, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Cool. Got it to work. I like the {{userbar}} code on your page, but do they always have to have custom links entered manually? How can I get the userbar to show all of my subpages automatically?
Artful Dodger 02:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Image Template Edit

It ends up working out well, but assumes you have the image named correctly, which is tough for new users.

I basically have three 'auto Image templates' I can instert:

  1. {{subst:User:Peteparker/Character Image|}}
, which assumes the entire name of the image is a character's name, with an Earth Designation after it, and can have a number after the earth desig, as long as the number starts with 0, (001, 002, etc). (Basically fills in the subject and universe, and puts Comic Single Panel in the License, and Character in the Type).
  2. {{subst:User:Peteparker/Cover Image|}}
, which asumes the entire name of the image is a Cover, as in "Title Vol # #" or "Title Vol # # Textless". (Basically fills in the Issue, License and Type fields, and grabs the CoverArtist field from the issue if there's anything there).
{{subst:User:Peteparker/Image Template
| License =
| ImageType =
| Description =

| Issue                   = {{subst:#explode:{{subst:PAGENAME}}|page}}

| Universe                = {{subst:#explode:{{subst:#explode:{{subst:PAGENAME}}|(|1}}|)}}
| Subject1                = {{subst:Ic|{{subst:#explode:{{subst:#explode:{{subst:PAGENAME}}|page|1}}| }}}}
| Subject2 =
| Subject3 =
| Subject4 =
| Subject5 =

| Notes =
| Trivia =
}}
, which has some modifiable options, but attempts to fill in as much as it can. Inserted as is, it assumes the title is "Title Vol # # page # Subject (Earth)". So it pulls both the subject and the issue out, and depending on if 'Cover' is put into the License area, it will either pull just the CoverArtist (cover is there), or pull the Penciler, Inker, and Colourist (cover isn't there) from the issue specified.

I created the last one because I was using the same naming conventions on my uploads all the time, and didn't like having to go back and fill them all in, especially for the artist stuff.

So it all works, but it's based on the name of the image. Works pretty well with the cover and character situations though.

Feel free to use them, I've made buttons for the comic and character ones, and just 'wrote over' the Image button with my personal .js for the long one. :)

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 22:36, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Sweet! If we ever get the naming conventions down pat, we can set this type of thing up as standard for everyone, (especially if we can get people to upload using the correct conventions).
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 22:53, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Oh, and PS, the |}} parts in those first two are for any comments you want in the Description and Gallery Description fields. I usually put whatever comment the original uploader had in that slot. (Hope that makes sense).

Editing Problem Edit

hey there, sorry to bug you; i have just edited Uncanny X-Men #191 and the result is positively freaky. I tried rebuilding the entry from a fresh template, and the result is still the same. Can you tell me where i went wrong? --edkaufman 10:39, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

UncannyXmen.netEdit

Ya its been quite awhile since I've contributed to this site, so its hard to remember. But looking back I contributed mostly to the New X-Men kids....uncannyxmen.net doesnt have pictures of those kids....But if I did use one of their pictures early on in my Marvel Database career, I apologize, but i really cant remeber. Missing Characters Edit

Hey Matt!

That's pretty cool. I noticed Eetmi was starting to make these stubs and was going to talk to him about it. Using stubs like these is kind of the 'old school' way to show people that we're missing info. It's kind of a giant billboard pointing out our flaws, and all of the research Wikia has done on those shows that they do the opposite of what you'd think they would. They actually don't lead people to adding the missing information to the page, but just end up cluttering up the tops of the pages.

Not to say that all the work that went into them isn't great. Just incorporating the part that you did takes a lot of effort, I know. :)

I just personally feel it's a direction we don't want to go, and something maybe that highlights the field that needs to be filled in, or maybe installing the 'edit' links back in to where they actually let you edit that page, (which we pretty much just have to install now), would be a better direction to move to get people to add that stuff. I definitely think keeping the added categorization ('Missing Characters') is totally needed and appropriate, however.

Maybe we should vote on using the stub format in the forums?

EvaluationEdit

If you are willing to, could you possibly assess the situation concerning Ralnon and with Stature; the former was infinitely blocked for "intimidation and harassment," but I was wondering if you could possibly try to impartially judge the situation carefully by yourself and determine whether the infinite ban was entirely fair and warranted. Thanks! Masr Keesha 19:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Comic Template Edit

I took out the stuff I was working on, I'm a bit too tired to think straight tonight.

What I was trying to do was test to see if the Release Date is in the future, and if so, hide the appearing/synopsis sections, but like you said, it didn't work out 100%. I'll keep working on it tomorrow. I have no idea why working with a standard date is so hard. The Time section of the Parser Function page is so silly.

Lator Gator,

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 02:57, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay. One eensy-teensy-tiny little thing and I think it'll be ready to roll. When it autocategorizes, it's a future date and for example Thor #603 comes on August 19th, but for the books that were released in June, the indicia says August, so now it's showing up in with the August books like it's already out. Is there a way for it to autocategorize with the actual date in there as well? Like Category:2009, August 19?

Thor_Vol_1_603 Eetmi 03:50, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about this, but can we bring the links back too? I'm putting a link to the official Marvel page for that issue so if the street date changes we can jump right to the page and get the new date to change it. Also, what do you think about if the |ReleaseDate = is filled in, have it also autocategorize to something like Category:Solicits/Upcoming Comics/etc?

Eetmi 14:59, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello M1shawhan Edit

Sorry for the confusion on my post. In the Marvel Universe Poster (the one with Spiderman in the front) there are about 3-400 heros and villians. My 4 year old boy was always asking me about the character behind Thor and Colossus.

After a lot of searching, I figured it to be Lady Deathstrike.

Only a few hundred to go.

Thanks for the help, I might be back again to ask more information about the poster.

Yea, I can probably do something with that. Maybe change the link on createpage to whatever we have that's equivalent. I think the plan is to add more of those icons over there for quick browsing at some point, but I haven't really heard much about it.

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 17:19, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Createpage is a little function that helps people to fill out pages correctly. It's just like our templates, but you can set up fields for the different parts of the page, instead of putting them in templates. Not all wikis use it, but I think that link is set up to point to it on all the wikis, unfortunately.

sequence for annuals Edit

hi there,

i noticed you edit on Uncanny X-Men Annual #1979, removing the previous and next issue; as a result, the next issue is now given as the 1980 annual (which, in the sequence of the volume is correct), the previous issue is given as the 1978 annual, which doesn't exist. This is, of course, easy enough to fix, but the edit before tried to place the annual as to where it would fit into the UXM-series. I can see where that kind of placing would be incredibly difficult, especially in later years, but i wanted to check with you before we started redoing the same work over and over: So, do we return it to its place in UXM or do we numer it in between King Size X-men 2 and the 1979 annual?--edkaufman 12:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

perfect. I added the chronological order under notes, as suggested. There is, however, somthing still weird with the page: Under "notes", it gives - as a last line - "no special notes". I can't find it in the code itself, so, where does that come from?--edkaufman 12:24, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

PS i just noticed that it's on all the pages - regardless of whether there are any entries under notes or not. weird, i never noticed that before. is that a template problem?

lol which references?

Celebrity Breakup: Daredevil and the Black Widow!! Edit

This celebrity break-up has led to a missing link on our beloved database. Daredevil and the Black Widow #107 does not link with Daredevil #108 with "previous" and "next" appearanes respectively. This is probably due to the Black Widow's name being dropped from the cover logo and a change in naming.

I tried to fix it, but of course, I could not. If you could check it out, I'd appreciate it.

Venomous Vandalism: Edward Brock & MacDonald Gargan's ArticlesEdit

Greetings Shaw! It's been a while but I'm back and ready to edit, especially for my favorite symbiote pages, Anti-Venom and Venom, however they're both still protected and I was hoping you could drop it now that the vandal's gone. I feel like we need to add the info concerning both characters from New Ways To Live and Sinister Spider-Man respectively but it is your call on whatever action shall be taken. Thanks and goodbye! -Your Friendly Neighborhood Symbiote (talkcontribsemail) 01:03, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Wow good call on protecting that page, I can't believe someone could bide they're time like that waiting to vandalize just those two articles. At least I managed to edit Anti-Venom before the guy returned. Is there any way to block his IP address? -Your Friendly Neighborhood Symbiote (talkcontribsemail) 02:32, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

Yes that's a great idea I'll update you two before I update the page. Mucho TY-Your Friendly Neighborhood Symbiote (talkcontribsemail) 19:05, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

The Two Turks Edit

Hey, As you probably noticed, I've been working on 70's and early 80's Daredevils. I have noticed that there are two "Turks", a minor hoodlum and foil of the Frank Miller era, who appears to be the same person. There is Turk Barrett (Earth-616) and Turk (Earth-616).

My thoughts is that Turk (Earth-616) should be deleted as the latter has a somewhat solid bio and I put the appearances of Turk on that page.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

Batroc

I'm so intrigued... Edit

...what are you up to with all of those bot saves? Other than trying to boost your stats, of course. :)

Move Template Edit

Thanks for fixing that. :)

please delete article I accidently created Edit

http://marvel.wikia.com/Irredeemable The writer has his own article here, but this comic doesn't, since it wasn't published by Marvel. I created it without thinking about the publisher. Please delete it. It belongs on a different Wiki. Dream Focus 03:29, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

Months Edit

Yeah, I was going to bring that up. When you put in the characters first appearance in the character template, you get a red link in the month/year if it says "early" or "late" in that spot.--Max 04:23, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

Comic Template Edit

How dare you invade my privacy!!!

It's funny, actually, I just went in to try and see if I could tweak the alt images so that they show up three to a line, and when I had trouble figuring that out (apparently it has to do with the resolution of the screen, and doesn't show on all screen sizes), I went to the forums where you premiered the alt-cover idea. In there, Jamie briefly mentioned using show/hide to hide the creators of different stories, so I figured I'd give it a shot. When I was in the infobox mucking about, it seemed like a prime opportunity to move things around to see if there is a more efficient way to organize it all. And then I started getting into simplifying the code in there, since it was a friggen nightmare to try to see around all those divs! Really, all I'm doing now is trying to get the spacing so that it looks nice, and toying with simplifying the code further. If you have any ideas about what might look nicer, I'm all for it! It'd also be nice to see a little change in the same old template styles we've been using, (though not too much of a deviation from the norm). :) I'm trying to think of the best place to put the Event and Storyline stuff, since one of my goals was to see what the infobox would look like with the cover right at the top.

Just some fun mucking about. What don't you like about it? :)

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 02:24, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

That's a good idea. I'm not sure we can make the text inside the header any smaller though, and we'd have to if we got some long titles or title/event combinations. We have two possible events and a story arc to fit in there...

Good JobEdit

Thanks for all the good work on the Uncanny X-Men issues! but i have a question: Is Jonathon Silvercloud Forge's real name or not? Im a little confused on that. --Johnnybravo44 01:21, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks. Yeah i think thats just a little weird how they have characters as big as that and they cant even establish a real name for them. I mean sure, Forge isnt that big of a character compared to many others, but still.. --Johnnybravo44 01:44, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Hey I got another quick question for ya. On Shard Bishop (Earth-1191)'s profile, it says her first appearance is in Uncanny X-Men #309. Ive checked other websites, such as wikipedia and uncannyxmen.net, which are also fanbased, and they say the same thing. Now I have the issue myself, and she is definetly NOT in it. Do you, by any chance, know what her first appearance really is? --Johnnybravo44 02:06, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

oh ok thanks! --Johnnybravo44 02:38, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! Edit

Thanks for the input! :) I see what you mean about putting the pin-ups in the notes, it's not too busy looking and you can just click the image if you do want it enlarged, I think I'll be following your example. Do you think I should put the value stamps on the corresponding character pages or also on the comics page? I'm not sure if the stamps were the same for all the books printed that month, or if each title had a different stamp, or what the deal was. Domakesaythink 00:03, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, totally. Do you think that this looks ok? King Kull (Earth-616), I've done a few pages now and just sort of tucked them into the notes section at the bottom. Domakesaythink 04:01, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

thanks for the clean-up... Edit

...with the gnome-page. I'll remember the move tag - i figured the character was so minor that I'd probably get all the pages linking to it in one go. But you're right of course: it's better to be safe than sorry. Thanks again!--edkaufman 11:38, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

dude, you've been on this project so much longer than I have that you still wouldn't come across as a jerk if you told me to go book an html-course at community college before editing this site again. ;) But honestly, I'm still not too code-savvy, especially when it comes to templates, so I'm always happy about someone poiting me in the right direction.--edkaufman 13:30, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Blocked ? Edit

Why have I been blocked from several of the bios I once helped to add to (Athena, Dionysus, Hermes)? Thor2000 16:54, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm still blocked from adding to the Dionysus profile. I keep getting this message: "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: This page has been locked to prevent editing. You can view and copy the source of this page." I'm not sure the reason to blocking profiles when the database was created to add and update profiles as they need be. Thor2000 17:28, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
    • Could someone be blocking me directly? All I want to do is readd the link for his extended bio page at the Guide to the Mythological Entry website. I added these links everytime the page went up there and I'm not exactly clear why it was removed. Thor2000 17:31, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
      • I didn't go away, I just ran out of things to do here. I started two other wikia sites, I got my short stories, my sites, and I'm trying to get my second book published. If I could add more to the sites here I would, but every two out of three bios here appear to be blocked to me editing. Thor2000 16:03, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

THANK YOU Edit

All caps is warranted, since I want to once again thank you for updating the 'this weeks' comics' on the front page. It's an unending, dull task and you perform it dutifully every week like a champ. I, for one, really appreciate it, and I'm sure the thousands of users who grace our front page appreciate it as well.

You're awesome, I love you. ;)

technical question Edit

hey there, i have a code question once again. I changed Cable's entry, as he was still listed as being from Earth-4935 - I suppose that's from the time before the move. I tried to add in a footnote that he was raised on 4935, but born on 616, but the code doesn't seem to like that. Is there a way to add a footnote there without messing up the categories?--edkaufman 12:41, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

Hey hey!
You were close, just a mis-placed closing brackets.  :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 04:05, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
thanks for the help! still so much to learn from you guys! --edkaufman 01:05, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

Stranger Edit

Yea, it's no someone, it's Marvel and DC editor. I've been policing his edits for over a year now, but stopped over the past 4-6 weeks. He's the person who removed the middle parenthesis from many of the pages. In some cases, I agreed with it, such as Gorgon pages where he removed '(Inhumans)'. In that case, the other person from mainstream continuity had a real name differing from 'Gorgon', so it made sense that the Inhuman get the title. I wasn't sure about the Stranger page. I approve/don't approve all of these moves as they come up, and in that case, the final word on the Stranger (Cosmic Entity) talk page was that it should be moved. If there's nothing on the talk page, I'm assuming the move is approved. Worst case, slap another move tag on the page with the new name that doesn't make sense, and we'll reopen the discussion on the talk page. MaDe is notorious for not explaining his logic for the move tags, but we never made that a rule. I'm still working my way through the Move Category (pages with move tags that are due for moves), so if you see some in there that shouldn't be moved, speak up about it on the talk page. ;)

Other Wikias Edit

As you pointed out in one message, I've been away from editing on the Marvel Database and the reason for that is I got involved in Wikia pages of my own for the Unsolved Mysteries TV series and the Our Gang/Little Rascals shorts. I just wanted to ask you what can I do to punch up those sites? Another Rascal fan would not be into Wikia and another Wikia user may not be into the Rascals? I'd like to hear your response on this. Thor2000 16:36, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

deleting a page Edit

hey there,

I mistakenly created a page Vernon van Dyne Earth-616) (notice the missing bracket). I've already moved all the content to Vernon van Dyne (Earth-616). How can I delete the left-over page, cause it doesn't even seem worth creating a redirect on it...--edkaufman 18:25, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Got it. :)--Max 20:37, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Is that something only admins can do or did I just not see th button? --edkaufman 21:34, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
