  • I'm curious why you removed the Universe and Subjects for Venom Vol 4 14 Marvel Battle Lines, and for that matter why none of the Battle Lines variants have universe or subject entries.

  • Hey hey, Nurdboy42. There are some pages that are lock and it is not fair that other users cannot edit the pages. Can you unlock the pages that are locked like Ghost Rider,Earth-616 and Captain America, Earth-616?

  • Hi!

I saw you merged the two characters, but I feel unsure about it, have you something to support this theory? (Conan books happens to often use names from antiquity and mythology, with sometimes no link, such Angra-Mainyu and Armati, references to Angra Mainyu/Ahriman and Armatai/Gaea)

(I must admit Zoroazztor is the case where the proximity to its model is the strongest -notably due to the "older than time" hinting longevity powers-, so it doesn't seem wrong to me, just uncertain from what I've read so far) (to be noted that I've a partial copy of the Marvel Tarot, and it miss the sorcerers supreme's pages)

I've added my "Possible Separate Page" headline and a note. I use it a lot on Conan and god/angel/demon-related stuff. Feel free to remove it (and complet/replace the note) if you have elements to add (I'm thinking an handbook or a letters page from Conan)

    • The Marvel Appendix confirms the two are one and the same. As per Dave Sexton:

"Zoroastrianism believes in a constant struggle between opposing forces of good and evil. My original thought with Zoroaster was that he was connected to the Eternals and Deviants. He is actually the Zoroazztor that appears in Conan in possession of one of the Cornerstones of Creation, the Serpent Crown. He sought to use the tainted artifact for good and it broke his mind. I don't know that this works with the timeline. Maybe after Conan claimed the crown, Zoroaster recovered, started Zoroasterism and eventually became the SS."

    • Comments in the Marvel Appendix are usually taken aside, but given it's a writer participation, it is indeed to be added to the wikia.

And you kill two birds with one stone, as the comment also establish the Serpent Crown as the Crown of Wisdom, clearing at least partially the uncertainty about the Elder Gods and the Cornerstones of Creations being the same in Conan and in Mystic Arcana (and even adding the connection between them).

  • Hey, Nurdboy42. I see a lot of screenshots on movie and TV series pages. How do the image rights work on this wiki for that? Am I allowed to simply take a relevant screenshot of my digital episode of Agents of SHIELD, for instance, and upload it here?

  • Congratulations. Feel free to upload a unique profile picture to File:User-Nurdboy42.jpg for use on the Marvel Database:Administrators article if you'd like.

  • Hey, when something is accidentally in the wrong tense why don't you try and fix it instead of deleting something, I just put a lot of time into referencing, without any Warning. Mods like you make me want to not even try and improve the wiki. Your pages are missing information but you would rather have none then something in the wrong tense apparently.

  • I have a Marvel Title not listed in the wikia: Marvel Adventure Featuring: Daredevil.

It is printed on the cover without an "s" after Adventure. It is a reprint of Daredevil issues. I have 3 issues from 1975-76.
    Marvel Adventure Vol 1 1
    Marvel Adventure Vol 1 5
    Marvel Adventure Vol 1 6

I tried different approaches to finding it without luck. I don't have the tech skills to add them in the database myself. It's hard enough for me to just add or do corrections. I can provide the credit info, etc. thanks, Matt

If you could take pictures of the indicia to visually confirm the spellings it would be much appreciated.

    • Not a problem:

      Marvel Adventure - 1 indicia
      Marvel Adventure - 5 indicia
      Marvel Adventure - 6 indicia

Let me know if you need me to crop it. I don't know how many they printed in the series. I only have these 3 issues. Back in those days when I was collecting I only had so much $ to buy & sometimes some titles had to be cut from my paper boy budget.

  • I'm assuming the rollback on my edits to this page also has to do with the message i received on my wall about references. I just wanted to point out that the powers section I edited contains no other references, not a single one, and yet it's there completely in full and remains unremoved so I'm wondering why the additional information I added requires references when none of the rest of that section has them and the majority of the pages I've seen on this wiki have pretty sparse references that often aren't even accurate.

If I added a reference to every single edit I made on that page you'd be looking at about a dozen or more, many of them citing the exact same issue sometimes multiple times per line which just clutters up the page and what is the point in including references when the page they source to has no synopsis, information or anything besides a name and publication info that would back up the validity of the reference in the first place? Supposedly it has to do with 'having the information we display referenced is what makes us a reliable source of knowledge' but when the reference directs you to a mostly empty page that doesn't make it anymore valid, which is coming from someone whose been a librarian

    • I guess I can understand that, doesn't help me understand why this particular pages edits were singled out when none of my previous ones were and why it was handled the way it was but it's not like I can change that, after all I'm not going to put the time into it again on this particular one when I feel like I'd have to have the rules open in another tab so I can be sure that whatever I do won't just get blanketly removed again so I'm at an impasse as far as this wiki goes.

I can try editing again and use references where I think they're needed by my own judgement as I had been doing and which hadn't been rolled back before for some reason or I can try the over citing method but with the amount of time I'd have to put into it I just don't really think it's worth it.

And which to me is a shame cause I like contributing and ensuring things are accurate but not if I have to jump through hoops and overwork for something that should be much simpler for me and had been on this wiki up until today for some reason.

    • Sometimes things slip through the cracks, but I assure you the mods are just doing their job and not singling anybody out. The lack of explanation on the article as opposed to a wall message is because unfortunately the rollback function does not provide a chance for an edit summary; however, remember edits are never actually lost, you can always retrieve them from the article's history later to go back and add the references to save time.

Also, if you're worried about "over referencing," one trick I use is to hide a reference if it's identical to the one that follows, that way it's visible to editors, but not the general public. For example, here's a couple redundancies I bolded for ease of understanding to note how I hid them while cleaning up Donald Pierce's article recently:

With the Reavers at their lowest ebb, Donald Pierce and his cyber jockeys alongside their new members, Star and Shine, took a big money gig in order to ascertain the mortal remains of their hated adversary Wolverine for a potential buyer.<!-- {{r|Hunt for Wolverine Vol 1 1}} -->

Their mission ended in failure due in part to the X-Men having displaced the body of their fallen comrade from the adamantium statue it was trapped in beforehand, said makeshift headstone being left as a sort of lure for those who would attempt to desecrate his grave. Pierce and his team were soon rounded up by the X-Men and deposited to Alpha Flight for incarceration;[1] however, they instead ended up conscripted to the services of O*N*E. In exchange for bodily repairs and upgrades to their bionics, Pierce and his Reavers were tasked with hunting down targeted mutants for General Callahan.<!-- {{r|Astonishing X-Men Vol 4 13}} -->

With their latest acquisition being Miss Sinister, they would square the books and the National Emergency director would grant Pierce and his crew their freedom, but Callahan went back on his deal, opting to enslave Pierce and Cylla through a fail-safe installed into their refurbished mechatronics while killing off Stomper, Watchel, and everyone else involved.[2]

Anyway, I've changed the text at the end of the "References Warning" to better explain it wasn't always the case here, but being reliably peer reviewed is now a focus on the Marvel Database, and hope that helps others avoid confusion in the future.

  • Why did you revert this? Virtually every comic book has someone standing in the background of some panel.

    • In my opinion they're a style choice that helps provide context both to the setting, as well as the nature of various factions, though I typically only include them if they're a plot point or serve as a counterpoint to a named individual.

    • Is there any documentation about this? At the DC Database, we don't include a bunch of elbows in the background. This could easily spiral out of control...

    • There's an overhaul of the guidelines ongoing.
