  • Please, whenever you create a new page, don't pass over writing some history text.

It's important to take into account that the purpose of this wiki is to provide the information of any given Marvel subject to visitors who want to know about it. Having pages with barely any information at all is counterproductive of us and discouraging for the readers, who would click on the link for a page only to find a "History of character is unknown" when the article has much more potential than that.

    Thanks!

But to extend that for a character with multiple appearances such as Tua_Zon_(Earth-TRN661) having the history text just say they were a member of a team is just as useless.

  • Please don't add Story Arc's or Events to reprint comics, this creates false appearances in the event category.

  • Can you help me make a better profile. Currently I have an info box but want something more like yours. I joined five days ago and i'm looking for some tips on how to use things around the site.

    • Hi, KLYNTAR616.

I have had a look at your profile and have a few tips. On mine, I've added an image (at the minute it's File:User_Ultimantium_Christmas_002.png but usually a Captain America image,) into the infobox. You have Web of Venom.png. If you add that into the image area of the infobox, it will appear in the infobox, instead of underneath. You also only need the worlds 'Web of Venom.png' to be next to image.

As well, I've also added a 'history' section to tell people my 'backstory'. And, I've added a 'Current Projects' area to tell people (or myself) what projects I'm working on. If you go to Community Central, they have a page called Help:Color (https://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Color) which has a list of colours. I've used different colour numbers for 'on hold' projects, 'for future' projects and 'in progress' projects.

I've also added a section where I tell people facts about me & my Marvel database work. I don't tell people personal facts, I tell them facts about my favourite Marvel characters or my first edit on the wiki etc. But you can tell people anything you want.

Another thing I've added is what comics I'm currently reading e.g. Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, Deadpool, Venom etc. It can be any source e.g. comic or online. Of course, if you don't read any or many, you don't have to put that section in.

If you need any help with anything or you don't understand something I've put, just ask me. Hope this was helpful!

    • You can also add a gallery by clicking on the 'gallery' text on the user page template. (If you quote this message, it will come up with the words I put, giving you the code behind the gallery). You can add any picture uploaded to the wiki - I've used the Web of Venom.png. A gallery can look like this:

      Information-silkUser Gallery: Ultimantium/@comment-37793126-20181217205345

This page contains all images on the database created by our community members, pertaining to this character, user or subject. If you have found a 'user art' image that exists on the database, but that is not seen on this page please add it. All new images added to the database should be added to the appropriate gallery as soon as possible for future reference.

  • If you want to fill out reprints, please be sure to strip their appearance lists of tags to avoid duplicate categorization like so. Thanks.

  • I'm not sure you understand what the difference between solicit and textless is, so I'm providing an example.

The cover for Old Man Logan #4 was this; however, it was solicited with this artwork that was never actually used for anything else other than the solicit, not a textless version of the normal cover as is typical.

    Make sense?

    • I had actually noticed this edit and figured it would be helpful to explain the difference.

As for the Astonishing stuff, I deleted the duplicate image and changed the language on a few of the descriptions, but nothing major and if the cover doesn't change, we'll just change the description from solicit back to textless.

    • Oh ye, I remember that edit. And thanks for clarifying with the Astonishing covers.

  • It is a violation of Wikia's Terms of Service to create a duplicate of an article under a different article name without also ensuring the accompanying edit history is properly moved alongside the new article. I've deleted several improperly moved articles and request that you please cease this practice. You can learn more about the correct way to request a rename here, but keep in mind that any move should be supported by evidence, typically a picture of the correct indica like you see here. Thanks.

  • Please can you not add the textless cover from the original US comics to the pages for Panini reprints, though the image is the same, its not actually for that comic. If possible, please add the actual cover used by Panini

  • Please, take into account that the history text in the articles in this wiki is to be written in past tense.

    Thanks!

  • Please, remember whenever you add new information to properly reference it every single time.

If your source is a comic, TV episode, movie, etc., you just need to put between {{r| and }} the issue/episode/movie in which the events you just described happened. Like this:

    Tony Stark became Iron Man.{{r|Tales of Suspense Vol 1 39}}

If your source is a web site, refer to this page on how to cite web pages in articles.

Remember that having the information we display referenced is what makes us a reliable source of knowledge, so even though it wasn't always the policy here on the Marvel Database, it's now considered extremely important (see also Citing Sources).

    Thanks!

  • Please, whenever you upload a new image, be sure to follow these three simple steps:

    1) Be sure the image name acts in accordance with our site's Naming Conventions.

    2) Once the image is uploaded, please don't forget licensing.

    • If you uploaded it through the Special:Upload function, make use of the "Licensing (Required)" dropdown feature before clicking "Upload File," so it can be legally displayed on the wiki.
    • If you uploaded it through the "Add a photo to this gallery" function on the bottom of galleries, or you didn't select any licensing option in the dropdown feature of Special:Upload, you'll have to add the licensing manually. Go to the uploaded image and click "Edit," you'll see two rows of buttons to insert templates or format functions. Click on the button that has a single polaroid photograph on it (found in the bottom row), and the template will be added. Be sure to fill in the "License" field with the respective license. Most common licenses are "Comic Single Panel," "Comic Cover," "TV Screenshot" and "Movie Screenshot." If the licensing you added is not valid, the image will still appear as unlicensed.

    3) Whether the image template with licensing has been added automatically or has been inserted manually on the image, please be sure to fill in the respective fields there are, including "Source," "Universe," "Subject#," etc. to help sort it out.

    Thanks!
