Mew (short for Mewnir) was a white, short-haired cat that was Nancy Whitehead's pet.[2]

History

Mew prevented Ratatoskr from psychically infecting Doreen and Nancy.[3]

Mew and Tippy-Toe were both briefly abducted by a malfunctioning Brain Drain soon after Doreen and Nancy moved.[4]

Mew was briefly catnapped by Howard the Duck while he was searching for a cat named Biggs. She was quickly rescued by Squirrel Girl who then immediately had to save Howard from Kraven the Hunter and Shannon Sugarbaker.[5][6]

During Taskmaster's rampage in New York City, Doreen and Nancy's apartment was damaged allowing Mew outside. While out in the city, Mew ran into Lucky and they formed a quick friendship over pizza. Together, Lucky and Mew aided Squirrel Girl and the other superheroes in defeating Taskmaster in Washington Square Park.[1]

When Nancy and Tippy-Toe mysteriously disappeared, Mew was the only witness. To get Mew's account of the events, Squirrel Girl visit with Tigra, White Tiger (Ava Ayala), Black Cat, Kitty Pryde, Beast, Hellcat, Howard the Duck, and Biggs the cyborg cat, and finally Loki the Sorcerer Supreme.[7] Loki was unable to communicate with Mew, but did find Tippy and Nancy on Chitt-crrt. To travel to Chitt-crrt, Loki summoned the Milano with Drax the Destroyer aboard. Mew accompanied Squirrel Girl, Drax and Loki to Chitt-crrt.[8] While Nancy, Squirrel Girl, and Tippy went into space with the Silver Surfer, Loki kept an eye on Mew on Chitt-crrt.[9]

Notes

  • She is named after Mjolnir's pronunciation, i.e. "Mew-nir".[2]

Trivia

  • Mew's diet consists of half a cup of kibble mixed with half a can of wet food per day.[10]
