"Dr Morbius" was part of the same traveling show he worked for "Ponderosa" Parker, and sold an elixir that an Apache shaman had sold him the recipe for. The elixir bathed a spider, that bit Parker giving him spider-like powers. Even the doc drank the elixir, which turned him into a sort of vampire. To heal Morbius infected various adults to help him kidnap children, convinced that he could return to normal by absorbing the life force of the latter. Parker, who had assumed the identity of Web-Slinger, decided to stop him. During the battle a candle fell to the ground and gave way to a fire. Knowing that if the fire had reached the chemicals he was working with would have caused an explosion, Morbius had a surge of redemption and shouted to Web-Slinger to take the children away, and when there was the explosion he presumably died.[1]
