History
When Michael Pressman was only a child, his father Max murdered his mother and tried to kill him and his sister Melinda. Fortunately for the two children, the police intervened and shot Max, killing him.
Michael and Melinda were funneled through the foster care system, where they struggled to make sense of their father's crimes. In adulthood, Michael became an alcoholic living homeless on the streets.
Eventually, Max returned as Wallow, a malignant spirit capable of feeding off of negative emotions. Unwilling to accept that his children had survived, he first possessed Melinda, goading her into stepping off of a ten-story building. Thanks to the chance intervention of Ghost Rider, Melinda was taken to the hospital, and so Wallow turned his attentions to Michael. He induced Michael to jump off of a rooftop, but Michael regained his senses just in time to catch an open windowsill and pull himself inside.
Seeking refuge at a church, Michael was saved by Ghost Rider, and explained that Wallow was his father. The two hurried to Melinda's hospital room, where Wallow made another attempt to drive her to kill herself, but Melinda's hatred for her father allowed her to overcome his influence and stab him. With the tide turned against him, Wallow was subjected to Ghost Rider's Penance Stare, which dissolved him, leaving Michael and Melinda to rebuild their relationship.[1]
