Synopsis for "Failures of the Heart"
After the failure to breach the Spacewall[1], Arcturus Rann has aged significantly and instantaneously and Mari is paralyzed but otherwise alive and well. Rann, however, is broken in spirit and entirely convinced that the blame for the destruction of the Grand Fleet by the Enigma Force is his. Rann wishes to return to the Dreaming Star and enter into communion with it while Mari is appalled and heartbroken by his decision.
Meanwhile, the Endeavor II detects the presence of the Acroyear fleet on the other side of the Spacewall and Acroyear makes contact with the Lady Cilicia. Cilicia responds with anger at the presence of Acroyear and has her fleet fire upon them but it is futile with the existence of the Spacewall between them. Afterwards, she tells him of a large mass attached to the barrier and leads him to a massive space station called Breachpoint.
The Micronauts explore the station and discover it to be largely abandoned. Huntarr merges with a dead alien to learn its purpose. The alien mind reveals that the aliens were superior to all others but struggled to breach the Spacewall and built the station to solve the problem. However, they ultimately succumbed to faltering genetics after a hundred thousand years. Acroyear is able to successfully use the Breachpoint's beam to breach the wall and threaten the Acroyear fleet from attacking them. He abandons his hope of reconciling with Cilicia but is forced to flee the station when it is attacked by the Enigma Force. The Micronauts return to the Endeavor II to discover Scion has hatched from his egg and taken control of the ship.
