Synopsis for "Death and Transfiguration"
Bug and Solitaire are on their way back to Sphere after Bug's change of heart.[1] Solitaire finds Bug lying on the ground and seemingly ill and takes him to sick bay where she discovered numerous open sores on his body. Her ship arrives to Central City and she beseeches another Child of the Dreaming Star to summon the other Micronauts in response to Bug's condition but he reveals that they are in similar condition. Huntarr greets Solitaire and explains that they are succumbing to radiation poisoning and he is upset that his condition is not the same, feeling unworthy to be unaffected.
In the engine room of the Endeavor II's wreckage, the egg the Micronauts had taken hatches and a menacing multi-limbed alien emerges from it. The creature wanders through the facilities of Central City as various Children of the Dreaming Star see it and are awed by its presence. It eventually arrives to the infirmary where Huntarr and Solitaire look after the Micronauts and attacks Huntarr. Huntarr puts up a fight but the creature is immensely powerful and able to hurt him unlike anything has before. Solitaire demands some guards to assist but they inform her that the creature is a "prime being" and they dare not. Eventually, Huntarr is speared by a protrusion from the creature's head. He quickly transforms into an amorphous expanding mass forcing the others to flee. Ultimately, however, his new form oozes over the sick Micronauts and causes a cellular rebirth of them, including himself. They all emerge healthy and well and Huntarr comes to terms that he might actually offer some value to the Micronauts after all.
