Synopsis for "The Dreaming Star"
Devil wanders around the wreckage of a decimated Homeworld hoping to use a teleportation device but encounters a malevolent entity before apparently succumbing to its attack. Arcturus Rann awakens back on Sphere and realizes that this was just a dream but is disturbed by its realism. He is reunited with a rebuilt Biotron II and Microtron II before joining the other Micronauts after their recovery from radiation poisoning.
They are soon greeted by the appearance of Solitaire who has taken on the form of Sepsis, Rann's long-dead mother. She tells them they are the Children of the Dreaming Star and desires to show them the wonders that the Dreaming Star has to offer. They take a shuttlecraft to a space station orbiting the Dreaming Star, which is described as the companion star to their sun. The station makes floating capsules available to those who make the pilgrimage and wish to enter into communion with the star which will exhibit psychoactive properties and allows their minds free rein.
The rich tapestry of these minds is accessible via a system called the Star-Index. Before they can demonstrate it to the Micronauts, Arcturus gets a premonition and leaps into action with uncanny understanding of how to work the system and explicit directions about the need for a teleportation receiver. When it is brought before him, he has it wired into the matrix and Devil soon appears within the receiver but is distorted and unable to effectively communicate. His distorted communication mentions something about Homeworld, the Enigma Force, and the Worldmind but they are unable to decipher the true meaning of the message. Arcturus suggests that something must have disrupted the transmission at the source and they have an obligation to try to save him. A mission is planned with a newly rebuilt Endeavor II but a menacing presence pervades the image of Devil, foreshadowing danger ahead.
