Infinity

When the Avengers left the Earth in order to fight the alien race known as the Builders, the Mad Titan Thanos took advantage of the situation and sent his Black Order to raze the world.

The Mighty Avengers assemble

When Proxima Midnight and Thanos' goons started wrecking havoc in the streets of New York, a group of heroes assembled to fight them. These heroes were Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Spectrum, and the mysterious Spider Hero.[2] While Proxima was called upon by Thanos to return to him, his other general Eboy Maw had taken control over Doctor Strange and summoned Shuma-Gorath.[3] White Tiger, Power Man and Blue Marvel joined the brawl against the monster, ultimately turning the tide and emerging victorious. The dust settled, and Cage decided to officially turn the improvised team into the Mighty Avengers.[4]

Inhumanity

Once Thanos' invasion was thwarted,[5] the Mighty Avengers established their headquarters in the remodeled Gem Theater, and also established a hotline, with the purpose of helping everyone and anyone who needed them.

The team's next adventure came to the Mighty Avengers when Kaluu contacted the Spider Hero (who would subsequently assume the mantle of Ronin) to inform him the Deathwalkers were going to get into the fallen Attilan, the Inhuman city partially sunk in the Hudson river. While a portion of the team headed to Attilan, Luke Cage and his wife Jessica Jones dealt with an attempted hostile take over from Spider-Man (who was the villain Doctor Octopus controlling the hero's body at the time).[6]

Now hiring

While She-Hulk helped Luke and Jessica fend off Spider-Man's forces, the Mighty Avengers encountered a Hellhound sent by Lichidus of the Deathwalkers, who wanted to recover the Lost Talisman of Kamar-Taj from Attilan. With Cortex Inc. operative Quickfire was caught in the middle, the Hellhound was defeated, and Ronin escaped with the Talisman.[7]

The Deathwalkers

Soon after helping the Ava Ayala control the spirit of the White Tiger in Blue Marvel's underwater base, the Mighty Avengers found themselves facing an attack from Blue Marvel's son, the Doctor Positron, who blamed his father for his brother's disappearance into the Neutral Zone, and attempted to open a portal to said dimension and rescue him, but failed.[8]

At the time the Avengers were investigating the murder of Uatu the Watcher, the minions of the Deathwalkers were able to subdue Blade after weeks of chase, kidnapping him and taking the Talisman of Kamar-Taj from him.[9]

Even though the Mighty Avengers located Blade and arrived to help him, the Deathwalker's legion of servants provided a distraction so the heroes couldn't get to Deathwalkers before they could finish their ritual. The successfully-finished ceremony merged them together into the Deathwalker Prime, a creature with control over the four elements, thus power over the fifth: the spirit, which would be the key for it to destroy humankind.[10]

However, the Mighty Avengers managed to get hold of the cup used in the ritual of merging, and using a similar procedure merged themselves into the Avenger Prime, which managed to destroy the Deathwalker Prime, mainly because unlike the Deathwalker, the different personas merged into it were truly spiritually bonded, while the personas composing the Deathwalker were fighting for control. Once the Deathwalkers were defeated, the Avenger Prime broke down back to being individual Avengers.[11]

AXIS

After the Red Onslaught was defeated in Genosha, with Doctor Doom and Scarlet Witch bringing back Charles Xavier's consciousness, some of the people that were in Genosha started to feel different, including both Captain America and Luke Cage. Cap decided to be more concrete and less tolerant with his enemies, while Luke started having business affairs also with "Jason Quantrell", only to make money.

After Dave Griffith and Soryaya Khorasani joined the team, Spider-Man came back to the Gem Theater to apologize to Cage for what happened with Luke's daughter Danielle when Doctor Octopus took over his body and became the Superior Spider-Man. However, Cage told Peter to leave immediately, without even giving him a possibility to justify himself.

Meanwhile, the inverted Cap almost killed two robbers in a road chase and defeated the Plunderer and his gang in the offices of Cortex Incorporated showing no mercy, causing two henchmen to be killed, and only to meet moments later with Tony Stark, who was changed by the Genosha events as well, planning about the elimination of "bleeding hearts", referring to the Mighty Avengers and all of the team members. [12]

Luke Cage then had a meeting with "Jason Quantrell" to discuss money affairs, while Blue Streak formed his own super-villain team, the Fast Five, and started creating chaos in the city until Monica intercepted them. They later separate themselves to avoid capture. One of their members, Silver Ghost, used her suit's shielding to deflect Spectrum's attack, and then turned on an anti-visibility coating to continue her escape, however, Spectrum followed her radiation trail, and altered her light-form to impersonate Blue Streak to get close enough to Silver Ghost to take her by surprise and phase through her suit, knocking her out, while White Tiger, Power Man, Kaluu and Blue Marvel defeating the rest of the Fast Five.

At Avengers Tower, Tony and Cap are monitoring these events and criticize the Mighty Avengers on how they stopped the Fast Five and decide to unleash "the hammer" on them. Back at the Gem Theater, Luke Cage reveals to the entire roster that he sold the Mighty Avengers, leaving everybody shocked. Monica is enraged by this and demands why he didn't consult her, to which Luke angrily responded that it wasn't her business and that he started the idea of the Mighty Avengers. Adam then criticizes Luke on his behavior and walks away and Monica asks Luke on whom he sold the Mighty Avengers to, and Luke revealed that he sold it to Cortex Incorporated. The entire team is outraged and they remind him of what crimes Cortex Inc. has done recently. Luke then angrily said that he wanted a future for his daughter, to which his wife, Jessica Jones, appears and they argue about the events on Genosha and what he proposed for their daughter, to which Jessica fires him from the Mighty Avengers. Luke then angrily leaves the Gem Theater, only to find the Axis waiting for him.[13]

The Axis confront the Mighty Avengers for using the trademark Avengers name, with Tony Stark telling them to disband or die. Captain America tells him to take out the major threats on the team, to which Iron Man activates an Ultimo drone hidden in Greece. Blue Marvel leaves to confront Ultimo, while Tony gives a final warning to Spectrum. However, Odinson becomes increasingly enraged and uses his axe to attack Power Man, leading the Axis and the Mighty Avengers to battle each other. Wasp goes after She-Hulk, but Monica mimics her power and electrocutes her. Tony then gives another warning to her, to which she tries to blast him with energy. However, the Scarlet Witch protects him with Chaos Magic and Tony absorbs Monica into his armor.

Scarlet Witch then prepares a spell, but is stopped by a magic shield formed by Kaluu, who later insults her. Luke then punches through Kaluu's shield and prepares to attack him, but is defeated by She-Hulk. Meanwhile, Odinson is still battling Power Man and White Tiger starts clawing him, but Medusa's hair slams her to the ground. Captain America then plans to attack Kaluu using his shield, but it is intercepted by Spider-Man. Spidey starts to infuriate the Axis, with Odinson saying that he will rip the intestines of him and Iron Man preparing a replusor blast, but Monica suddenly comes out of Tony's armor and Adam arriving back from Greece. Iron Man then makes an excuse about Machinesmith taking over his systems and the rest of the Axis retreat, while Monica then recruits Spidey to the Mighty Avengers.[14]

Time Runs Out

When Steve Rogers and the Avengers set out to hunt down Iron Man and the Illuminati for hiding the the phenomenon of the incursions from the rest of the world, he reached out to the Mighty Avengers, who agreed to help him in capturing the Illuminati.

After weeks of attending the mass-panic caused when the existenceof the incursions was made public knowledge, the Mighty Avengers were deployed in Spain, where the Illuminati had been pinned down by the Avengers. The squabble was interrupted by the Invisible Woman, who convinced the different parties to reach a middle ground and start working together.[1] Adam Brashear used the opportunity brought by the truce to scold Mr. Fantastic and Black Panther for their actions with the Illuminati.[15]

When the final incursion loomed, the Mighty Avengers were called in to fend off the forces of the incursive Earth. Spectrum engaged in a plan to destroy the other Earth by turning into hard light and crashing into it at light speed. However, she hesitated when she was about to hit its surface after seeing a group of innocent kids playing, allowing the Maker of said Earth to capture her.

During the final hour, the members of the Mighty Avengers spent the last time in different ways. Captain America continued defending the Earth against the enemy forces, Iron Fist rescued civilians caught in the middle of the combat, She-Hulk helped strike against the other Earth, Power Man visited his family, White Tiger patrolled the city beating up criminals, Kaluu drank tea with Wong, Blue Marvel and his son worked in their lab trying to save the Earth, the Support Team answered the hotline comforting whoever called, and Luke Cage and Jessica Jones helped a homeless shelter.[16]

Trivia
