Synopsis for "The Guns of Avalon (Part 1)"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Captain Britain and MI13 #1

At an MI13 holding cell in Redditch, "Mortimer Grimsdale" ordered the guards to kill John the Skrull, but the guards claimed that they had received conflicting orders. "Grimsdale" took out a gun and was prepared to execute John before Pete Wisdom intervened and killed the former, revealing him to be a Skrull. Pete Wisdom revealed that the war had already started.

Captain Britain was already fighting Skrulls above Britain while Faiza Hussain tended to a wounded man and Black Knight neutralized a Skrull Mecha aiming at her. Captain Britain and MI13 met with the Prime Minister, who declared that all British superheroes now worked for MI13. As Alistaire briefed everyone on the situation, he pointed to the Cheviot Hills in Scotland, which Captain Britain pointed out was the location of the Siege Perilous, a gateway to Otherworld and Avalon and where he acquired his powers. Pete Wisdom pointed out that Britain had more magic than anyone else and that if they invaded Avalon, they could take the magic. The Prime Minister instructed Peter, John, and Captain Britain to secure Avalon against invasion with Spitfire, who was at the time, fighting Skrulls.

Black Knight and others searched for survivors of the Skull attack before Faiza was shot. MI13's helicopter was shot down by Skrulls before they attacked Captain Britain, John, Peter, and Spitfire. As a Skrull Assault Ship launched a missile, MI13 realized that the Skrulls weren't planning to invade the Siege Perilous, but to destroy it. Captain Britain and Spitfire flew Peter and John to a safe location before the national symbol flew into the sky and left behind his teammates to stop the missile from hitting Siege Perilous by himself. He reached Siege Perilous at the same time as the missile and was caught in an explosion.

Synopsis for "The Guns of Avalon (Part 2)"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Captain Britain and MI13 #2

Britain felt Captain Britain's death, as the Skrulls had closed all entrances to Avalon except on their spacecraft. As Faiza Hussain thought that she was dead, she dreamed of Excalibur before waking up and realizing that she had superpowers, as she unintentionally used them on Black Knight.

Spitfire, John, and Pete also felt Captain Britain's death and needed a way to get into Otherworld after the Skrulls destroyed the Siege Perilous. Pete cited the treaty with the fairies and summoned Tink, who took them to Avalon, where MI13 joined its inhabitants in fighting the Skrull attackers. As Black Knight fought Skrulls, Faiza used her newfound powers to defeat their remaining attackers. As Oberon closed Avalon's doors to other universes, Oberon declared that Otherworld had fallen and that the heroes had broken their treaty. Pete Wisdom claimed that he was hearing a voice in his head and Oberon revealed that it was the Mad One, who was confined by the High Evolutionaries of all the worlds in the Dark Realms. When Pete offered to help, Oberon pointed them to a cave with a sword before the fairy went to lead an army.

When MI13 reached the cave, they found Excalibur. Pete and John both attempted to remove the sword from the stone, although neither were worthy. Then, some Skrulls appeared behind them while other Skrulls killed the Lady of the Lake and the Green Knight before entering the Green Chapel, acquired the Amulet of Right, Sword of Might, the Grail, and other artifacts before placing them all in a converter, allowing them to possess "all magic."

Synopsis for "Family (Part 1)"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Secret Invasion: Inhumans #1

Karnak is teaching a group of young Inhumans about Inhuman history. More importantly, he reveals a secret that has kept them together for so long - family

The story begins when Tony Stark presents before Medusa and Crystal the corpse of a Skrull wearing Black Bolt's garb. Medusa doesn't understand and demands to the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the whereabouts of her husband, having noticed that he had been making trips to Earth a lot. Stark confesses that he was fooled. Medusa then responds by taking the corpse. Stark tries warning her that a storm is brewing and being prepared is their top priority. Medusa retorts that finding Black is their priority before Lockjaw teleports them out.

On Attilan, the Genetics Council is discussing on increasing security for the Terrigen Mists. Then Medusa comes in, throwing the Skrull corpse on the floor. She states that they must strike back at the Skrulls for replacing Black Bolt. However, his brother Maximus points out that if the Skrulls could capture Black Bolt, then they could've replaced anyone in the city. He asserts that he will personally stamp out the infiltrators. Karnak tries to reason that the Inhumans work as a family; Maximus begs to differ.

Later that night, Skrull sleeper agents then start engaging the Inhumans. Up in Medusa's quarters, she sees a silhouette, who she presumes to be her husband, only to fall into a trap, as it is actually a Skrull with Gorgon's legs and her hair.

Elsewhere, a Skrull scientist is preparing for his experiments on the captive Black Bolt, planning on using his voice as the most devastating weapon for the Skrull Empire.

Synopsis for "Family (Part 2)"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Secret Invasion: Inhumans #2

In the chapel, Karnak squares off against one of the Skrulls resembling him who had infiltrated the Royal Family. Though they are equal in power, Karnak demonstrates to the Skrull of the weaknesses he had discovered in his years of living in Attilan. He kicks the Skrull through the painted glass, falling from the chapel and impaled on a pointed fence post outside the chapel, sharing the fate of the Black Bolt impostor.

More Super-Skrulls make their presence known and they begin to lay siege to Atillan. Two Super-Skrulls then comment on their thoughts that Attilan was populated by mighty Kree warriors. They make the mistake of underestimating Crystal, who uses her elemental powers to create a giant stone effigy of Black Bolt, who smashes them into the wall of the royal palace.

Within the building itself, Medusa defends herself against the Super-Skrull with her hair and proves just how ruthless she can truly be when faced with the threat of eminent demise. Medusa and the Skrull topple from the balcony of the palace to the ground below, but she makes certain that the Skrull remains alive long enough for interrogation.

Elsewhere in the city, Karnak meets up with Gorgon who is in the midst of taking on an entire horde of Skrulls by himself. He saves Gorgon from being beheaded by a Super-Skrull and the two continue to repel the attackers.

Medusa and Crystal take their Super-Skrull prisoner to the Terrigen Mists. Exposure to the mists changes the alien on a physiological level - a fate worse than death for a Skrull. Mutated beyond recognization, the Super-Skrull reveals that Black Bolt is being held captive to be used as a weapon, but doesn't know where he is. Medusa doesn't believe him and tries throwing him in the chamber only to be stopped by Crystal. Gathering the rest of the Royal Family, they capture a Skrull starship. Leaving beleaguered Atillan behind, the Inhumans commit themselves to rescuing their former liege Black Bolt.

Meanwhile, aboard the Skrull warship Ryb'ik, a Skrull scientist continues to operate on Black Bolt to learn the secret of his sonic powers. In order to force Black Bolt's cooperation, the scientist reveals that he has captured his son Ahura, whose powers have been neutralized by a female Skrull resembling Jean Grey as the White Phoenix with his mother's extendable hair.
