History

Not much is known of King Mirmir, only that he lived in a land far removed from Asgard and that Thor had to cross the Dark Sea to reach him. Mirmir controlled the Mystic Fountain from which all waters flow. When Thor gave him a piece of the Tree of Life, Yggdrasill, Mirmir dipped it into the Fountain. Life flowed from it and dropped onto a pair of tree seeds that Odin had placed, which grew into the first humans, Aske and Embla.
