History

Doctor Doom implemented this defensive measure to complement the Tractor Beams protecting the borders of Latveria. Whenever an intruder aircraft entered the country, the Monitor-Mirage performed identification processes to check the ship's identity and, should it be confirmed as an enemy, defense protocols were initiated. The Monitor-Mirage could also greet any incoming ship explaining the process by presenting itself as a huge hologram of Doctor Doom in front of the vehicle, complete with audio capabilities.[1]

At one point, private detective Luke Cage entered Latveria uninvited because he wanted Doom to pay his fees; he was received by these measures and forced to dock.[1]
