History
Monolith as a child
Monolith was a woman descended from humans from Earth-122 who experimented on using gamma radiation and then banished to an unnamed planet under the glow of a gamma star. Monolith's ancestors terraformed the planet from the catastrophic fights between them, which created a ring of debris that orbited the planet and shielded them from the worst of the rays of the gamma star. By the time Monolith was born, her people had settled down and were building a civilization.[1]
Then a massive blast of gamma radiation struck their planet, which came from a Gamma Bomb that Bruce Banner aka the Hulk unintentionally sent toward them. Somehow, Banner's intelligence and knowledge were passed onto the people of the planet, allowing them to further the development of their civilization as well as learn of Banner's existence. They eventually began venerating Banner's Hulk form.[1] When the Hulk arrived on her planet, Monolith and her people welcomed him to their planet.[2]
Monolith explained her people's origins to Hulk and convinced him to get to know her people.[1] While Monolith watched Hulk play in the Godball festivities, the A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y. appeared to punish Hulk for accidentally killing some of their members. After the A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y. banish Hulk and Pave to a faraway planet, Monolith was able to prove Hulk's innocence using video footage Hulk recorded. However, Kuss killed the A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y. members after mistaking them for enemies. This forced Monolith to continue fighting A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y.'s members until they finally admitted defeat and agreed to retrieve Hulk and Pave.[3]
Monolith wanted Hulk to stay on her planet and become its king. However, Banner wanted to leave out of fear for the planet's safety. Believing that Banner would lead to Hulk's end, she began forcibly remove the cybernetics Banner placed on Hulk's body in order to kill the Banner persona. However, Banner's evil persona, the Titan, took the opportunity to take control of Hulk's body and unleashed the Hulk's anger to dangerous levels, causing the Hulk to release massive blast of energy.[4]
Monolith and a handful of citizens survived the explosion. After recovering, Monolith was horrified by the sight of the Hulk transformed into Titan. When Brutal was killed by Titan, Monolith ordered the survivors to kill Titan. However, Titan was too powerful and killed many of the attackers and then unleashed a shock wave that traveled the entire planet. When Pave suggested that they flee, Monolith told Pave and the survivors to flee while she fought Titan alone.[5]
She drained much of Titan's gamma energy using her staff and used it to unleash a blast of energy that sent Titan flying into outer space. However, Titan just absorbed the energy and returned to the planet. Monolith absorbed the gamma energy from her people and from Hulk's ally Doc Sasquatch to power up and fought Titan again along with Doctor Strange until the Savage Hulk took back control of his body from Titan, causing Titan to revert back to Bruce Banner. Doc Sasquatch explained the situation to Monolith who forgave Banner and received aid from Doc Sasquatch in rebuilding her planet.[6]Attributes
