This story is a reprint of the comic
Monsters Unleashed #9.

The monster defeats the police and carries the unconscious Julia Winters into the woods. He stops for a rest and realizes that she would want a home in the city so he picks her up and wanders towards town. He first encounters a zoo and is impressed with the beauty of the tigers so he bends the bars in order to give them their freedom. However, they attack him, and he is forced to slay both. He picks the girl back up and continues into the city, moving through a Bowery area, ignoring the bums as they attempt to panhandle him. He sees a nice house, and as he approaches, the police attack him once more. He easily defeats them, and Julia finally wakes up. She pelts him with a rock and runs away. Disappointed at having lost a pretty thing that might have been a friend, the monster heads off into the woods.
