Synopsis for "Homecoming"

At the Midnight Mission, a gardening Moon Knight is interrupted by Reese letting him know that a visitor is barging in and he allows it. When Reese remarks that Moon Knight is nicer than she is, Marlene Alraune retorts that they all know that is a falsehood and greets Marc. Seeing Marlene once more, a trigger occurs, leading to Jake taking hold to greet her. However, Marlene is impatient and demands to speak to Marc, so Jake returns Marc to control and asks what Marlene needs, to which she answers she needs him to kill someone. While Marlene notes Marc isn't an assassin anymore, he would make an exception for the man who took Diatrice, his daughter: Jack Russell, the Werewolf. Elsewhere, Carl berates a fellow werewolf for abducting Moon Knight's daughter, as he'll surely kill them. As the other werewolf berates Carl for cowardice, Jack Russell speaks up affirming Carl's concerns considering Moon Knight is Khonshu's avatar. But now, having kept his sanity when reading the Darkhold and after having won leadership over the North American werewolf packs, Jack Russell is now the King of All Wolves, aiming to free Lycans from the moon.

Back at the Midnight Mission, Marc rages at Russell's action much to Reese's fret, and Marlene elaborates that she and Diatrice came to New York for the funeral of her ex-husband, Eric Fontaine. While safe in France, they were ambushed once they were in America, and Marlene could recognize Jack Russell's voice even after so long. Marlene blames Marc as they took her in a plot to kill Khonshu. At Russell's hideout, he brings her a burger to eat while she tries to argue that he let her go or else her dad will kill him, but Russell counters that there are worse things than death, such as slavery. The werewolves are cursed with a disease yet are enslaved under Khonshu, bound by the moon, and used in wars at night with his Fists laced with silver to keep them in line. So by killing Khonshu, the werewolves can be free, but Russell needs her to do so. In New York, Moon knight asks Dr. Badr if killing Khonshu is such a possibility, Badr does recall a prophecy discovered by a past Fist named Omari. The prophecy contained a contradiction, but it revolved around the lunar rotation, and "the blood of a Fist" meaning their child, which Badr explains is forbidden as Fists are weapons, as Moon Knight advised Badr to suit up.

Russell explains to Diatrice that the Darkhold told him of said events, with Diatrice chiding him for listening to a book. Russell continues that there was a boy werewolf he once looked after, Tier Sinclair, after his mother left him, so Russell tried to raise the kid.[1] Russell concludes with Tier's death part of a prophecy, and Russell learned about dodging prophecies and messing with fate. With the night progressing, Russell tells Diatrice to get some rest before her father comes to get her. As Moon Knight and Hunter's Moon race to save Diatrice, Hunter's Moon is baffled as each Fist is made sterile and cannot sire nor birth a child. Moon Knight reminds him that there was something wrong with him as he doesn't have memories of past Fists or their experiences. As they breach the perimeter, Hunter's Moon voices how he should have chained Moon Knight instead of possibly fulfilling the prophecy, with Moon Knight welcoming the attempt. Russell sends two werewolves to inspect the breach, and both are hit by a shrapnel bomb of silver blades as Moon Knight and Hunter's Moon battle the two werewolves to find Diatrice.

Back at the Midnight Mission, Reese assures Marlene that Moon Knight will save Diatrice, with Marlene being confident about the outcome. When Reeses asks if Marlene was too hard on Marc, Marlene refutes her and understands why she likes him and his alters. Reese defends Marc since he saved her and so many others, but Marlene points that out as the issue, stating Marc saves everyone but himself and those he cares for. Marlene asks if she loves Marc, but she denies it as he's not her type but stayed with him as he needs someone in his corner. After the other heroes dropped him, except Tigra even when she was a snitch, Marc needs someone that isn't his doctor or beholden to him or involved in the myths or gods. Marlene agrees as she thought that could have been her once upon a time as she loved Marc and Jake and Steven, but the horror of his duties outpaced the excitement, for which she tells Reese will come for her too, but couldn't have Moon Knight in her child's life with that much danger.

As Moon Knight and Hunter's Moon have yet to kill their respective opponents, Moon Knight seeks to use there being two of them to his advantage, so Moon Knight aims to fight Russell while leaving Hunter's Moon to rescue Diatrice. A contrarian Hunter's Moon views Diatrice as a threat, but Moon Knight plays the "brother" card and leaves Hunter's Moon to seek her out as he hunts Russell. As Hunter's Moon roams a hallway, Khonshu communicates to him that he knows what to do, conveying that Diatrice being alive is a threat to him. Conflicted, Hunter's Moon comes upon a locked door and kicks down the door to find Diatrice, herself concerned as the man in the white attire isn't her father. When Moon Knight finds Jack Russell, perplexed at how he deduced his goal, both don't want to kill the other but will for the sake of their people. As Russell spent a year fighting Wendigos,[2] he asks if Moon Knight is worse, to which the Fist of Khonshu aims to find out. Meanwhile, Marlene elaborates to Reese that she couldn't raise her daughter around Marc as people die around Moon Knight, as blood easily shows on a white outfit and always stains even after cleaning. Despite Khonshu's order, Hunter's Moon instead holds her hostage to extort Jack Russell to stop fighting and revert to human form. As Hunter's Moon deduces Russell's plan, the werewolf king counters that he would pass the curse to her, and while that would make him a monster, she would live and he was tired of more kids dying to prophecies.

When Russell accuses Moon Knight of allowing Hunter's Moon to use Diatrice as a hostage, a furious Moon Knight emphatically denies such and holds his khopesh to his throat. While lowering Hunter's Moon's blade, Diatrice interjects to remind her father that he's not allowed to kill anyone in her presence. But while Marc sees Russell's living as a threat to her, Diatrice argues that he treated her well and nobody died, and with the alignment passed, any chance Russell had to hurt her was long gone, thus Khonshu is safe. As the moon god scolds Hunter's Moon for not following his orders, the avatar rebuttals that Diatrice is an innocent and his only granddaughter. Whether or not Khonshu lived, Moon Knight wanted to leave but swears to kill Russell should they meet next time; as Marc laments to himself that he wishes Diatrice could have met his father. Back at the Midnight Mission, Reese is watching Diatrice while Marc talks with Marlene, who plans to move to a new home after tonight. Marc invites the two to stay and offers to quit being Moon knight to be with them, but Marlene refuses knowing he cannot. Marc admits he and his alters still love her and Diatrice, as Marlene never doubted that. As Marc sulks given Marlene's stance, Reese comes in to remind him his daughter wants ice cream. Reese asks if he is well, but Marc admits he will be as Reese encourages him back up as they go out.

Solicit Synopsis

WEREWOLF BY MOON KNIGHT!

In the Darkhold, there is a prophecy of how a god might die. Jack Russell, more familiar with that cursed tome than most, would like very much to kill a god and save his people, the people bound in servitude to the moon. But to fulfill that prophecy requires the blood of the Fist of Khonshu, and Moon Knight doesn't bleed easily.
