Synopsis for "Final Rest"
Moon Knight is scaling a building to the penthouse apartment of a mobster named Curly who he had been tipped off as being the boss responsible for hiring the vandals who stole his father’s corpse.[1] When he enters the apartment, he fights with Curly and tries to extract information from him but fails to determine anything meaningful.
At the home of the now deceased Elias Spector, Marlene Alraune discovers that Zohar has broken in to steal valuable Kabbalah manuscripts that are intended to be returned to the Jewish seminary. He blasts her with a mystical bolt as he flees and later tells Marc of her encounter as he vows revenge for the desecration of his father’s grave.
Back at the seminary library, a former colleague of Marc’s father is disheartened at the loss of the irreplaceable manuscripts and explains to Marlene the nature of Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism while Marc leaves for an appointment with Reuben Davis, his father’s former colleague. Upon his arrival to the chapel, he encounters Zohar who is revealed to be Reuben and is attacked by his sorcerous powers. Zohar flees the scene and arrives to a Kabbalah class of Mr. Weiss to stop his teachings. The students seek to fight him off but fail.
Moon Knight goes to Reuben’s apartment, suspecting he might find his father’s corpse there and discovers a secret chamber where he finds the corpse and again encounters Zohar. Moon Knight manages to deflect one of Zohar’s mystical bolts back at him and renders him unconscious but Zohar has already succeeded in reanimating the corpse of Marc’s father. Moon Knight refuses to fight with his father’s corpse and it begins choking him but Marlene then arrives and removes the Hebrew letters from its forehead which dispels the effect of the reanimation.
Afterwards, as they’re boarding a plane back to New York, Steven Grant tells Marlene that Zohar’s powers have vanished with his father’s re-burial and that he feels like a new person.
