Synopsis for "The Death of Marc Spector (Part II of V)"
Norman Osborn and his Thunderbolts has been tasked with tracking down and apprehending the rogue super-hero Moon Knight. He provides them dossiers on Spector's background and provides them with a slideshow detailing his physical capabilities. Osborn wants to be certain that they can secure the Moon Knight situation without added interference from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Meanwhile, Bertrand Crawley visits the home of Jean-Paul Duchamp and his roommate Rob. He tells them that Moon Knight is in trouble and will require their help. Frenchie has no intention of helping Marc Spector any longer. His friendship with Spector has brought him nothing but pain. Crawley then calls upon Spector's former paramour Marlene Alraune. Her response to Crawley's plea meets with as much success as his meeting with Duchamp.
Elsewhere, Iron Man and a detachment of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents arrive at the ruins of a crack house - the last known sighting of Moon Knight. Iron Man is irritated for letting someone like Moon Knight manipulate the Commission of Superhuman Affairs into giving him a registration card.
Moon Knight meanwhile, after stopping a truck full of drug runners, runs into the Thunderbolts. The team attacks him and Spector retreats into the safety of a darkened warehouse. Moon Knight gets the drop on the Swordsman and quickly disables him. Venom charges towards him, but Moon Knight backflips behind a supply of propane tanks. Venom's momentum drives him into the tanks and there is a huge explosion. Everyone evacuates the building safely, but Moon Knight has disappeared.
Spectre does not escape unscathed however. The explosion nearly disembowels him, and he barely has the strength to make it back to his headquarters. Within the sanctity of his home, Marc Spector collapses upon the floor.
Notes
- Marc Spector does not wear his traditional Moon Knight costume in this issue.
