Quote1 You need to listen to me, brother. I've been trying to tell you all night. My latest resurrection was... taxing. I did not come back as I should have, not wholly. Imprisoned, our father's power has waned. He must be free to work his miracles. He sent me back with a message: "The next time one of my sons dies while I am imprisoned... I cannot resurrect him." Quote2

Synopsis for "Blood Moon Rising"

Inside the Myrmidon, Doctor Robert Plesko talks with the incarcerated Zodiac and asks what is on his mind. Zodiac comments on how Jazz and Comics are American art forms the Japanese have outpaced them. But, there remains one thing that the United States does better than the Japanese or anyone else, that being supervillains, something Zodiac is ready behind. Meanwhile, Moon Knight and Hunter's Moon ride the F-Train discussing the resurrection abilities of the Fists of Khonshu. Hunter's Moon reminds Moon Knight that they repeatedly die in their service to Khonshu, which Moon Knight snidely remarks is all the elder god is good for. Despite his arrogant brother's ignorance, Hunter's Moon then brings up the main question: if they don't die, then why are there only two of them born in the late 20th Century?

Back in Myrmidon, Doctor Plesko is interested to hear more about Zodiac's thoughts on super-villainy being wholly American yet has to note a prominent example in Doctor Doom. Zodiac doesn't count him as he finds Doom just too Euro with all practice and no passé. Zodiac prefers the Americans, as psychopathy in America is unique, seeing "freedom" from law and custom and "bravery" to do and take what you want, as Zodiac is living his American dream. Zodiac wants to forget Doom and would rather have Carnage as he knows how to party like a villain. In the subway, they follow the tracks of their prey as Moon Knight considers the question Hunter's Moon asked and admits he never considered it. So he asks why, if they keep coming back, do they need new Fists, like the undead that helped him and Tigra a while back.[1] Hunter's Moon answers that resurrections have always had limits. While the bodies return to prime condition, the minds suffer as they lose themselves little by little until only raw instinctive violence remains. Moon Knight asks in disgust if that is all they can look forward to, with Hunter's Moon affirming so in diligent reverence as they bring justice, as Khonshu gave Hunter's Moon divine purpose after reviving him to revenge upon his murderers.

In Myrmidon, Zodiac finishes talking about himself and asks about Plesko, not wanting to dance around, seeing how hollow the doctor is. Plesko deduces Zodiac is calling him a puppet, and the ecstatic killer is happy he got it right in one guess, as he knows who his puppeteer is: Marc Spector, the Moon Knight. After all, Zodiac did his research on the lunatic hero and reveals he knows Plesko toured the Third World with Spector and Duchamp. Underground, the Fists of Khonshu find their targets, with Moon Knight correcting a confused Hunter's Moon that they're in Subterranea. Hunter's Moon asks if this is one of his territories also, and Moon Knight affirms so, as it is a province to the Midnight Mission, as one of the Moloids came to him for aid. In Myrmidon, Zodica inquires about Plesko's feelings about committing war crimes, curious to know Marc Spector before he was Moon Knight. But the doctor refuses to indulge him, even as Zodiac brings up his infiltration as Terry [2] noting Spector's guilt, but Plesko refuses and seeks another topic. However, Zodiac notes that Moon Knight was bogged down by guilt like a ton of bricks and is curious why Plesko is not feeling as guilty. In Subterranea, Moon Knight gives a speech that the mercenaries cannot hide from the moonlight even under tons of Earth, as he will bring the Moon's violence wherever. Hunter's Moon is surprised by his brother's pious words, and Moon Knight asks that his brother let him have his verses. As one mercenary aims, he is killed by a Moloid with a pick axe.

In Myrmidon, Plesko admits he has made a study of guilt as a doctor and therapist to help others and himself with his past. So he asks Zodiac his thoughts and is surprised the madman doesn't recognize guilt. Zodiac sees it as a cudgel of societal conditioning, a punishment by the world for people to inflict on themselves, a policeman in their heads. Zodiac admits he hates cops, so he killed "Officer Guilt" and was disgusted to see he had his face, so he got a new face and name, now trying to keep up the "good work." In Subterranea, the Moloids rise up against their jailers, and Moon Knight is throttled by a punch he hasn't fought in so long, Commodore Donald Planet. The commodore finds it fitting to fight Moon Knight underground, already below his grave, tanking all the hero's attacks. When inquired as to why he was there, Commodore Planet bearhugs Moon Knight and admits he was doing a job but is unaware of the client. Satisfied by the intel, Moon Knight directs Hunter's Moon to attack Commodore Planet's ears to stun him, with Hunter's Moon chastizing Moon Knight for being cavalier with his life.

While Moon Knight brushes it off, considering he'll have a resurrection, Hunter's Moon revisits their earlier talk as Hunter's Moon's latest resurrection was taxing altogether. He has a message from Khonshu that their patron cannot revive them anymore so long as he remains imprisoned and that the next one to die will not be resurrected. In Myrmidon, Plesko thanks Zodiac for the enlightening interview, and Zodiac tells him to tell Moon Knight that he can be gracious in victory. Plesko asks why he thinks he won, and Zodiac taunts that he fought Moon Knight and lived, having gotten his wish to make Moon Knight lose it by taking a friend of his, namely Soldier. Plesko chuckles before revealing to Zodiac that Soldier is very much alive, and thus Zodiac has failed. Plesko knows as he came did indeed come on Moon Knight's behalf, all to tell him Soldier was fine. Zodiac shouts in disbelief since he saw himself shoot Soldier dead, warning Plesko that he won't be the last as anyone near Moon Knight dies. Elsewhere, the Harlequin Hit Men (Herb and Sheila Hollister) ready their munitions as they have a set of photos atop the table. Their targets are now everyone Moon Knight has ever associated with.
