Robert Mann inherits a fortune from his Uncle William but intends to hide it from his wife. His wife partially overheard the conversation and takes him to a mountain range so that his weak heart my give after receiving the fright of the heights. Instead while overlooking a waterfall Robert faints and pulling his wife causing her to fall and die, never knowing that Robert was going to die soon and he was going to leave all the money to her anyway.

A wooden-legged captain works his furnace stokers until they drop and there is only the most powerful one left. When the last of the coal is gone, they use wood until that is gone and they are still just short of port. The stoker tosses the captain into the furnace so that his wooden leg provides the last bit of wood they need.
