History

Origins[]

The Nü-wa Clan were the human descendants of the Xian Nü-wa. In ancient times, the Nü-wa were part of an confederation of Chinese tribes along with the Fu Xi Clan and Shen Nong Clan known as the Huaxa led by the Yellow Emperor against Chiyou and his demon army. During the Battle of Zhuolu, the Yellow Emperor called upon the Three Sovereigns to assist him and their descendants.[1] In response, the Three Sovereigns gifted them their sacred weapons: with Nü-wa sending her Bands of Nü-wa. The chief of Tribe Nü-wa used the Bands along with the other chiefs to defeat Chiyou and his army.[2] Despite his defeat, Chiyou was unable to be completely destroyed, resulting in the his remains being divided and sealed away to prevent his resurrection. Three tombs were built to bury a part of Chiyou's remains, each containing a fragment of his soul and guarded by the sacred weapons, with the Bands guarding his body in a tomb in Gansu. The Clans vowed to guard the tombs, as reuniting Chiyou's three parts will result in his resurrection.[3]

Modern Times[]

By the present day, the Nü-wa Clan was the only active clan that still kept its vow to prevent Chiyou's resurrection. When the seal in Chiyou's tomb in Qianfengu was broken, resulting in several of his demon forces being released, the Nü-wa were dispatched to destroy the demons and to find the missing Sword of Fu Xi and Qiangfentu's Spirit Orb. While fighting demons in Shanghai, Ji Shuangshuang discovered that the Sword and Orb were in the possession of Lin Lie, Fu Xi's descendant.[2] Shuangshuang's grandmother and chief of the Nü-wa, Ji Xiangyun ordered her to bring Lie and the Sword to the Nü-wa Clan's mansion in Gansu and remarked that the Fu Xi and Nü-wa were working together again.[4] When the two arrived with Lie's friend Ah Cheng, the estate was attacked by Chiyou's forces hoping to claim his sealed body. Before the Clan members were overwhelmed, Xiangyun used the Bands to destroy the demons.[5]
