History
Origin[]
Nagala was the Lemurian daughter of Palatyne, a descendant of Set.[3][1] The circumstances of this birth, that apparently happened in Lemuria, remains unrevealed, given Palatyne was supposed to be imprisoned on a mountaintop in Arragorn, punished by Nagala's grandmother Pressyne (daughter of Set's great-granddaughter Maralithand of Set-worshiping Lemurian Naga) for having conspired against their estranged grandfather, Scottish King Elynas.[1] The mate for this union remains unidentified.[3]
A potential mother for the seventh generation descendant of Set, prophesized to restore the kingdom of the Serpents, Nagala learned about it while researching the life of like-named Naga, and, sought the power to prove herself more worthy than her potential competitors, including her cousin Yith, daughter of Melusine[1] (It is unknown if Yith is aware of the prophecy).[4]
Nagala swam into the chasm where was located the giant Serpent Crown created by the Deviant Ghaur and Lemuria great-aunt by marriage). After Nagala invoked the seven mystic names of Set, a new Serpent Crown formed on Nagala's head,[1] which Nagala considered to have created.[5]
Deep Six[]
Subsequently, Nagala allied Attuma and joined his "Deep Six" in fighting off Namor the Sub-Mariner and the Defenders, shortly opposing Doctor Strange before the Defenders teleported away.[5]
Later, Hellcat was pitted against Nagala to buy the Defenders some time. Strange saved timely saved Nagala, and defeated her, relieving her of the Serpent Crown. The rest of Deep Six were quickly defeated and Namor restored his position.[6]
At'la'tique[]
Nagala later formed At'la'tique a group of fringe radical, undersea terrorists who seek to destroy air-breathers. They worked with the Fathom Five. Nagala evaded capture when Atlantean troops attacked the team's former secret base.[7]
Second Serpent Crown[]
Nagala returned to the giant Serpent Crown and met with Llyra, its guardian. Llyra hated Nagala who Set had crowned as his new Queen, and who despised her in turn. Both antagonized the other, but Llyra finally let her pass.
After Nagala invoked the seven mystic names of Set, a new Serpent Crown formed on Nagala's head, Once empowered by the Crown, Nagala attacked Ian McNee who was infiltrating the scene. McNee tempted Nagala with the Ebon Rose. As she fancied herself more powerful than Set himself if she came in possession of the Ebon Rose along with her Serpent Crown, Llyra lashed at her for her audacity.[2] Via the mystic First Tarot which place her on the card of the Emperor, Nagala then helped McNee to discover that it was Chthon in disguise, not Oshtur, that had been manipulating him in his quest, and aided him to repel Chthon.[8]Attributes

Trivia
- In his notes on the Emperor Tarot card in Marvel Tarot #1, Ian McNee mentions Naga as being Nagala's "great great great grandfather",[9] rather than his great-granddaughter.[3][1] In her first appearance in Defenders (Vol. 2) #7, Nagala introduced herself as "descendant" of Naga.
